Kyaukme District Court…
Criminal Regular Case No. 3/2025 – Judgment Continuation – 10
Because the consecutive actions committed by the accused constitute a single continuous offense arising out of the same transaction, the separate sentences imposed for each individual offense shall be served concurrently rather than consecutively. He is hereby sentenced to 11 (eleven) years of imprisonment with hard labor. Under Section 52(A) of the Counter-Terrorism Law for Case (2), he is sentenced to, 3 (three) years of imprisonment with hard labor. and the court directs that these two separate prison terms shall be served concurrently. Consequently, they shall serve a total net sentence of 11 (eleven) years of imprisonment with hard labor.
The detention periods already served by the accused prior to this judgment during the trial shall be legally deducted from the total calculated prison sentence.

The Situation regarding the Nawng Cho Myo Ma Masjid reflects the heavy toll the civil conflict in Myanmar has taken on religious institutions and minority communities. In areas shifting hands during operations by the Three Brotherhood Alliance, local infrastructure has frequently been caught in the crossfire or targeted after the fact.
“Sit Khwes” (a derogatory local slang term used to refer to the Myanmar military junta soldiers) and nationalist groups like Ma Ba Tha have historically used accusations—such as a mosque allegedly providing logistics or cooking meals for rebels—to justify raids, closures, or seizures.
Because local information environments, court dockets, and official declarations inside conflict zones like Shan State are highly restricted and tightly controlled, specific confirmation of an exact legal verdict or a localized administrative case ending “just now” is difficult to verify through public international registries. Systematic actions against Islamic infrastructure across Myanmar remain a critical concern highlighted by global watchdogs like the Burma Human Rights Network.
The specific report you referenced from SHAN News confirms that the Myanmar military junta (“Sit Khwes”) sealed and confiscated the Nawng Cho Myo Ma Masjid along with a Nepali/Gurkha community rest house and over 20 civilian homes. [1, 2]
Local ground reports from media outlets like Democratic Voice of Burma (DVB) and Myanmar Now detail the context of how this seizure unfolded:
- The Accusation: Junta supporters and nationalist actors (such as Ma Ba Tha figures like Zaw Moe Htet) actively spread propaganda accusing the mosque management of supporting the resistance. They claimed that after the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) initially captured Nawngcho during Operation 1027, the mosque was used to cook meals and distribute rations to TNLA and PDF troops. [1]
- The Seizure: Locals pointed out that these accusations were entirely fabricated to incite religious and racial tension, especially since the local Muslim population had already fled the heavy fighting and the mosque was empty. As soon as the military re-entered or consolidated control over parts of the area, they used these proxy accusations to permanently seal (ချိပ်ပိတ်) the buildings. [1, 2, 3]
Because these confiscations are executed directly via military decree, martial order, or weaponized administrative bodies rather than an independent, transparent judicial process, the “court case” is effectively a formalization of the junta’s forced seizure. Organizations like the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) continue to flag these ongoing military targeted actions against religious infrastructure as severe violations of fundamental rights.
