Reading the post by Sayar Saw Kyaw Lin from early 2025 predicting the future of Karen armed groups really hit home. The points he raised are the reality playing out on the ground right now and what will continue to happen.
If you look closely at our surroundings, these behaviors and patterns aren’t limited to Karen armed organizations. All other Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs) across the country, as well as the current NUG and its subordinate factions, are bound to end up down this exact same path.
Just look at what is happening today: under the banner of revolution, some send their families to third countries, while others live as self-exiled opportunists abroad, passionately lecturing on nationalism online. On the ground, they leverage weapons for financial gain, splinter into factions over revenue distribution, and engage in rampant nepotism. Ultimately, while fighting against dictatorship, they end up becoming the new dictators themselves. They took up arms claiming to destroy authoritarianism, only to transform into petty warlords.
The most tragic part is that under the fraudulent revolution of these superficial politicians and petty capitalists, the real lives of young grassroots fighters are sacrificed. Meanwhile, civilians in conflict zones are forced to appease every side—flattering the military on one hand and armed groups on the other—living in constant fear among gunmen operating under various banners.
It is deeply depressing to realize that nearly 80 years of civil war history in our country has yielded zero benefit for the general public. Instead, it has only spawned a new privileged class of warlords, ending in this ugly tragedy. Everything is moving in a vicious circle, and in the end, we will have to reset from absolute zero.

Based on the past and present events of the Karen armed movement, here is what the upcoming future looks like. Over the next few years, those connected with, supporting, or defending these organizations (KNU, KNLA, KNDO, DKBA, PC, BGF, KTLA)—especially the youth and middle-aged—will follow the exact same path as those before them under the banner of nationalism and revolution:
- A small minority will stand by their convictions until they pass away.
- Some will flee and settle in second or third countries as refugees/exiles under various pretexts.
- Some will remain along the border areas to preserve their reputation, but will send their families to second or third countries.
- Those who flee abroad will continue to preach nationalism loudly to hide their true motives and deceive the public.
- Some will reconcile and rejoin the enemy.
- Some will exploit the revolution to build gun-backed business enterprises.
- Some will engage in nepotism and family business dealings under the guise of revolution.
- They will fight over revenue splits and power, forming new splinter groups.
- Some will resort to acting like thieves, bandits, and thugs to bully and exploit the public.
- While waging revolution against oppression and dictatorship, they will become new dictators themselves.
- Some will grow disillusioned with the situation and return to life as ordinary civilians.
In this way, generation after generation of superficial revolutionaries, ethno-nationalists, and petty capitalists will emerge. Real lives will continue to be sacrificed for a sham revolution and fake nationalism. Civilians living in conflict zones will remain trapped in fear, forced to appease every armed actor. By the late 21st century, the social conditions of the Karen people will regress to what they were prior to the colonial era.

သရာစောကျော်လင်း ၂၀၂၅ နှစ်စကတည်းက ရေးထားတဲ့ ကရင်လက်နက်ကိုင်တွေရဲ့ အနာဂတ်ဟောကိန်း ပိုစ့်လေးကို ဖတ်လိုက်တော့ အတော်လေးကို ထိမိတယ်။ သူထောက်ပြထားတဲ့ အချက်တွေက လက်တွေ့ မြေပြင်မှာ ဖြစ်နေတဲ့၊ ရှေ့ဆက်လည်း ဖြစ်လာမယ့် အမှန်တရားတွေချည်းပဲ။
ဒါပေမဲ့ တကယ်တမ်း သေချာပတ်ဝန်းကျင်ကို လေ့လာကြည့်ရင် ဒီအဖြစ် အပျက်တွေ၊ ဒီစရိုက်တွေက ကရင် လက်နက်ကိုင် အဖွဲ့အစည်းတွေမှာတင် ဖြစ်နေတာ မဟုတ်ဘူး။ တစ်နိုင်ငံလုံးက တခြား တိုင်းရင်းသား လက်နက်ကိုင် (EAOs) တွေရော၊ အခုလက်ရှိ NUG နဲ့ သူတို့ရဲ့ လက်အောက်ခံ အဖွဲ့တွေရော အကုန်လုံး နောက်ဆုံးကျရင် ဒီလမ်းကြောင်းအတိုင်းပဲ ဆက်သွားကြမှာ မြေကြီးလက်ခတ်မလွဲပါပဲ။
အခုပဲ ကြည့်လေ… တော်လှန်ရေး ခေါင်းစဉ်တပ်ပြီး မိသားစုကို တတိယနိုင်ငံပို့ထားသူကပို့၊ နိုင်ငံခြားမှာ ပြည်ပြေးလုပ်ပြီး အွန်လိုင်းကနေ အာပေါင်အာရင်း သန်သန်နဲ့ အမျိုးသားရေး တရားဟောသူကဟောနဲ့။ မြေပြင်မှာကျတော့လည်း လက်နက်အားကိုးပြီး စီးပွားရှာ၊ ဝေစုမတည့်ရင် အဖွဲ့တွေခွဲထွက်၊ ဆွေမျိုးကောင်း စားရေး (Nepotism) တွေလုပ်ပြီး နောက်ဆုံးတော့ အာဏာရှင်ကို တော်လှန်ရင်းနဲ့ ကိုယ်တိုင်က အာဏာရှင် လက်သစ်လေးတွေ ပြန်ဖြစ်သွားကြတာပါပဲ။ “အာဏာရှင် စနစ်ကို တိုက်ဖျက်မယ်” ဆိုပြီး လက်နက်ကိုင် လိုက်ကြပေမဲ့ နောက်ဆုံးတော့ ကိုယ်တိုင်က လက်နက်ကိုင် စစ်ဘုရင်လေးတွေ ဖြစ်လာကြတာပဲလေ။
ရင်နာစရာအကောင်းဆုံးကတော့ အဲဒီလို ရေပေါ်ဆီ နိုင်ငံရေးသမားတွေ၊ ဓနရှင်ပေါက်စတွေရဲ့ အတု အယောင် တော်လှန်ရေး ခေါင်းစဉ်အောက်မှာ အောက်ခြေက လူငယ်တွေရဲ့ အသက်စစ်စစ်တွေ စတေးခံ လိုက်ရတာပဲ။ တကယ့် ပဋိပက္ခဇုန်ထဲက ပြည်သူတွေကတော့ စစ်တပ်ကို မျက်နှာချိုသွေးရ၊ လက်နက်ကိုင် အဖွဲ့တွေကို မျက်နှာချိုသွေးရနဲ့ ခေါင်းစဉ်အမျိုးမျိုးတပ်ထားတဲ့ သေနတ်သမားတွေကြားမှာ အကြောက်တရား အောက်ကကို မထွက်နိုင်တော့ဘူး။
ကျွန်တော်တို့ နိုင်ငံမှာ နှစ် ၈၀ နီးပါး ကြာခဲ့ပြီဖြစ်တဲ့ ပြည်တွင်းစစ် သမိုင်းကြီးဟာ လူထုအတွက် ဘာအကျိုး အမြတ်မှ မကျန်ခဲ့ဘဲ၊ အခွင့်ထူးခံ လူတန်းစားသစ်တွေနဲ့ စစ်ဘုရင်တွေပဲ တဖြည်းဖြည်း ပွားလာပြီး ဒီလို အကျည်းတန်တဲ့ အဖြစ်ဆိုးနဲ့ပဲ နိဂုံးချုပ်သွားတော့မယ်ဆိုတာ တွေးကြည့်ရင် တကယ့်ကို ယူကျုံးမရ ဖြစ်စရာ ပါပဲ။ အားလုံးက စက်ဝိုင်းတစ်ခုထဲမှာ လည်နေပြီး အဆုံးကျရင် သုညကနေပဲ ပြန်စကြရဦးမှာပါ။

ကရင်လက်နက်ကိုင်လှုပ်ရှားမှု၏ အတိတ်နှင့်ပစ္စုပ္ပန်ဖြစ်ရပ်များအပေါ်အခြေပြု၍ လာလတ္တံ့သောအခြေနေတို့ကို ပြောရလျှင် ယခုအချိန်၌ အဖွဲ့အစည်းတို့နှင့် (KNU KNLA KNDO DKBA PC BGF KTLA) ဆက်စပ်လျက်ရှိသောလူများ၊ ထောက်ခံသူများ၊ ရပ်တည်ကာကွယ်ပေးသူများသည်(အထူးသဖြင့် လူငယ်၊ လူလတ်) အမျိုးသားရေးဝါဒနှင့် တော်လှန်ရေးခေါင်းစဉ်ဖြင့် (ယခင်၊ ယခု)လူတို့၏လမ်းစဉ်အတိုင်းပင် နောင်နှစ်အနည်းငယ်အတွင်း၌ –
1) အချို့က ခံယူချက်အတိုင်း ကွယ်လွန်သည်အထိ ဆက်လက်ရပ်တည်သွားမည်။
2) အချို့က ခေါင်းစဉ်အမျိုးမျိုးဖြင့် ဒုတိယ၊ တတိယနိုင်ငံသို့ ပြည်ပြေးများအဖြစ် ထွက်ပြေးအခြေချကြမည်။
3) အချို့က ဂုဏ်သိက္ခာအရ နယ်စပ်ဒေသတွေမှာ ဆက်လက်နေထိုင်သော်လည်း မိသားစုဝင်တို့ကို ဒုတိယ၊ တတိယနိုင်ငံများသို့ ပို့ထားမည်။
4) ပြည်ပြေးအဖြစ် ဒုတိယ၊ တတိယနိုင်ငံသို့ ထွက်သူများလည်း မိမိတို့၏သရုပ်မှန်ကိုဖုံးကွယ်ရန်နှင့် လူထုကိုလှည့်စားရန် အမျိုးသားရေးဝါဒတရားများကို အာပေါင်အာရင်းသန်သန် ဟောပြောကြမည်။
5) အချို့က ရန်သူနှင့်ပြန်လည်ပေါင်းစည်းသွားမည်။
6) အချို့က တော်လှန်ရေးခေါင်းစဉ်ဖြင့် လက်နက်အခြေပြု စီးပွားရှာကြမည်။
7) အချို့က တော်လှန်ရေးဟုဆိုကာ ဆွေမျိုးကောင်းစားရေး/မိသားစုစီးပွားရေး(Nepotism) လုပ်ကြမည်။
ဝေစုမတည့်၊ အချင်းချင်း စားခွက်လုရင်းဖြင့် အဖွဲ့သစ်များထောင်လာမည်။
9) အချို့က သူခိုး/ဓားပြ/လူရမ်းကား ပုံသဏ္ဍာန်ဖြင့် လူထုအပေါ် အနိုင်ကျင့်အမြတ်ထုတ်ကြမည်။
10) ဖိနှိပ်မှုနှင့်အာဏာရှင်ကြောင့် တော်လှန်ရေးဆင်းနွှဲရင်း မိမိတို့ကိုယ်တိုင်လည်း အာဏာရှင်လက်သစ်များ ဖြစ်သွားမည်။
11) အချို့ကမူ အခြေအနေအရပ်ရပ်အပေါ်စိတ်ပျက်ကာ သာမန်ပြည်သူအဖြစ် ပြန်လည်ရောက်ရှိသွားမည်။
ဤသို့ဖြင့် ရေပေါ်ဆီ တော်လှန်ရေးသမားနှင့်အမျိုးသားရေးဝါဒသမားများ၊ ဓနရှင်ပေါက်စများလည်း တခေတ်ပြီးတခေတ်ပေါ်လာမည်။ အတုအယောင်တော်လှန်ရေးနှင့်အမျိုးသားရေးဝါဒအတွက် အသက်စစ်စစ်များဖြင့် အလဲလှယ်ပြုကြဦးမည်။ ပဋိပက္ခဇုန်၌ နေထိုင်သည့်ပြည်သူများကမူ ဟိုလူ့ကို မျက်နှာချိုသွေးရ၊ ဒီလူ့ကို မျက်နှာချိုသွေးရသည့် အကြောက်တရားများဖြင့်နေထိုင်ရမည်။ ၂၁ ရာစုကုန် ပိုင်းသို့ရောက်သော် ကရင်တို့၏လူမှုဘဝသည်လည်း ကိုလိုနီခေတ်မတိုင်ခင်ကဲ့သို့ ပြန်လည်ရောက်ရှိသွားမည်။
