Sometimes the sea is calm, serene, and inviting. Other times, waves rise fiercely, crashing with unstoppable force. Yet, the people of Myeik \u2014 seasoned seafarers \u2014 never abandon their journeys out of fear. They have learned to face storms with courage, adapting to whatever the tides bring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83c\udf0a Life is much the same. It is not a perfectly calm sea. Unexpected storms \u2014 financial struggles, health challenges, or emotional setbacks \u2014 often arrive without warning. At times, it may feel as though the waves of fate are trying to knock us down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But remember: the purpose of life is not to sit idly, waiting for storms to pass. It is to learn how to stand firm, to navigate through the turbulence, and to emerge stronger and wiser. Just as relentless waves polish the rocks along the shore, hardships refine us into resilient, mature individuals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83c\udf1f <strong>Resilience in History<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Thomas Edison failed over 1,000 times before inventing the light bulb. He once said, <em>\u201cI have not failed. I&#8217;ve just found 10,000 ways that won&#8217;t work.\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>J.K. Rowling, author of <em>Harry Potter<\/em>, faced rejection from 12 publishers before her manuscript was accepted. Today, her books inspire millions worldwide.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Nelson Mandela endured 27 years in prison, yet emerged with forgiveness and vision, leading South Africa toward unity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>These examples remind us that storms are not the end \u2014 they are the training ground for greatness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83c\udf0a So, whatever challenge you are facing today:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Do not surrender your spirit.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hold on to your <strong>courage<\/strong> and your <strong>self-belief<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Trust that tomorrow\u2019s sun will shine again, bringing peace after the storm.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Life\u2019s waves may be fierce today, but with determination, tomorrow\u2019s horizon will be filled with light. I have to admit that I learned to smile after reading the Dale Carnegie\u2019s famous book, \u201cHow to win friends and influence people.\u201d It is not cheating!&nbsp;The genuine sincere smiles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A smile is a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/drkokogyi.wordpress.com\/wiki\/Facial_expression\">facial expression<\/a>\u00a0formed by flexing those\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/drkokogyi.wordpress.com\/wiki\/Muscle\">muscles<\/a>\u00a0most notably near both ends of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/drkokogyi.wordpress.com\/wiki\/Mouth\">mouth<\/a>. The smile can also be found around the eyes (See \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/drkokogyi.wordpress.com\/wp-admin\/#Duchenne_smile\">Duchenne smile<\/a>\u2018 below). Among\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/drkokogyi.wordpress.com\/wiki\/Human\">humans<\/a>, it is customarily an expression denoting\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/drkokogyi.wordpress.com\/wiki\/Pleasure\">pleasure<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/drkokogyi.wordpress.com\/wiki\/Happiness\">happiness<\/a>, or\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/drkokogyi.wordpress.com\/wiki\/Amusement\">amusement<\/a>, but can also be an involuntary expression of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/drkokogyi.wordpress.com\/wiki\/Anxiety\">anxiety<\/a>, in which case it is known as a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/drkokogyi.wordpress.com\/wiki\/Grimace\">grimace<\/a>. Cross-cultural studies have shown that smiling is used as a means of communicating emotions throughout the world.<a href=\"https:\/\/drkokogyi.wordpress.com\/wp-admin\/#cite_note-0\">[1]<\/a>\u00a0Happiness is most often the motivating cause of a smile. Among\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/drkokogyi.wordpress.com\/wiki\/Animal\">animals<\/a>, the exposure of teeth, which may bear a resemblance to a smile, is often used as a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/drkokogyi.wordpress.com\/wiki\/Threat_display\">threat or warning display<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 known as a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/drkokogyi.wordpress.com\/wiki\/Snarl\">snarl<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 or a sign of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/drkokogyi.wordpress.com\/wiki\/Submission\">submission<\/a>. In chimpanzees, it can also be a sign of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/drkokogyi.wordpress.com\/wiki\/Fear\">fear<\/a>. The study of smiles is a part of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/drkokogyi.wordpress.com\/wiki\/Gelotology\">gelotology<\/a>, psychology, and linguistics, comprising various theories of affect, humor, and laughter.<a href=\"https:\/\/drkokogyi.wordpress.com\/wp-admin\/#cite_note-Freitas-1\">[2]<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Historical background<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The presence of&nbsp;<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/drkokogyi.wordpress.com\/wiki\/Dimple\"><strong>cheek dimples<\/strong><\/a><strong>&nbsp;is controlled by a single&nbsp;<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/drkokogyi.wordpress.com\/wiki\/Gene\"><strong>gene<\/strong><\/a><strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many biologists think the smile originated as a sign of fear. Primalogist Signe Preuschoft traces the smile back over 30 million years of evolution to a \u201cfear grin\u201d stemming from monkeys and apes who often used barely clenched teeth to portray to predators that they were harmless. Biologists believe the smile has evolved differently among species and especially among humans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Biology is not the only academic discipline that interprets the smile. Those who study&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/drkokogyi.wordpress.com\/wiki\/Kinesics\">kinesics<\/a>&nbsp;view the smile as an&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/drkokogyi.wordpress.com\/wiki\/Affect_display\">affect display<\/a>. While conducting research on the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/drkokogyi.wordpress.com\/wiki\/Physiology\">physiology<\/a>&nbsp;of facial expressions in the mid-nineteenth century, Duchenne identified two distinct types of smiles. A&nbsp;<strong>Duchenne smile<\/strong>&nbsp;involves contraction of both the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/drkokogyi.wordpress.com\/wiki\/Zygomaticus_major_muscle\">zygomatic major muscle<\/a>&nbsp;(which raises the corners of the mouth) and the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/drkokogyi.wordpress.com\/wiki\/Orbicularis_oculi_muscle\">orbicularis oculi muscle<\/a>&nbsp;(which raises the cheeks and forms&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/drkokogyi.wordpress.com\/wiki\/Wrinkle_(skin)\">crow\u2019s feet<\/a>&nbsp;around the eyes). A non-Duchenne smile involves only the zygomatic major muscle.<sup><a href=\"https:\/\/drkokogyi.wordpress.com\/wp-admin\/#cite_note-2\">[3]<\/a><\/sup>&nbsp;Many researchers believe that Duchenne smiles indicate genuine spontaneous emotions since most people cannot voluntarily contract the outer portion of the orbicularis oculi muscle.<sup><a
