<strong>VIRTUAL<\/strong> UNITED (ETHNIC MINORITY) STATES OF ASIA after, <strong>virtual <\/strong>Balkanization of Myanmar, China (Tibet and Yunan) and India (east India states).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My voice may not command armies\u2014but it contributes something more durable: <strong>orientation when old compasses fail<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Where power has actually shifted (and most activists missed it)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This is where I offer a <strong>new analytical lens<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The real contest is no longer:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Junta vs NUG<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Democracy vs dictatorship<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The real contest is now:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Centralized nation-state vs fragmented sovereignty under great-power patronage<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That is why:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>NUG is collapsing \u2192 not only corruption, but <strong>structural weakness<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ethnic Armed Organizations are recalibrating \u2192 survival logic<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>China is patient \u2192 prefers <em>manageable fragmentation<\/em> over chaos<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>China does <strong>not need to officially annex<\/strong>.<br>It prefers:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Wa-style buffers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Economic corridors<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Resource extraction<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Security outsourcing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><em>In this sense, <strong>balkanization is already happening\u2014silently<\/strong>.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Islamophobia, China, and the uncomfortable truth<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>I need to raise an issue many avoid out of fear of being accused of \u201cidentity politics.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let us be clear and sober.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Islamophobia is multi-directional in Myanmar<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Junta weaponizes it<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Some Bamar ultra-nationalists internalize it<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Some ethnic armed groups tolerate or replicate it<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Even some Christian minorities exhibit it defensively<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This is not accidental.<br>It is a <strong>political tool<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">China\u2019s contradiction<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Limited religious freedom in Wa\/Yunnan areas<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>But deep anxiety over China\u2019s anti-Islam policies<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Here is the uncomfortable truth:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>China tolerates Islam only when it is politically harmless, localized, and economically useful.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Hui Muslims \u2192 tolerated<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Uyghur political Islam \u2192 crushed<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cross-border Muslim solidarity \u2192 feared<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>So any ethnic state that aligns with China <strong>will trade ideological autonomy for material survival<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That includes Muslims.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">My dream: \u201cUnited (Ethnic Minority) States of Asia\u201d<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>At first glance, this sounds utopian.<br>But historically, <strong>utopias often precede new geopolitical vocabularies<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let me reframe my dream into something more analytically grounded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What I am really dreaming of is not a state<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>It is a <strong>civilizational safety architecture<\/strong> for stateless or semi-stateless peoples.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A few observations:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Myanmar as a nation-state has failed repeatedly<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Borders drawn by colonialism are cracking<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Identity-based federalism failed because coercive unity was never dismantled<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>China and India already manage <strong>informal spheres<\/strong>, not borders<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>My idea resembles:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The EU (post-war trauma)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>ASEAN (post-colonial pragmatism)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Kurdish transnational identity (without recognition)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why it is not possible <em>now<\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>No shared elite consensus<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No security guarantor<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No economic backbone<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Too much mutual historical trauma<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why it may become relevant <em>later<\/em> <em>in the future<\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If Myanmar irreversibly fragments<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If China and India prefer buffers over chaos<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If ethnic regions stabilize economically<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If identity shifts from \u201cnation\u201d to \u201cnetwork\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In that future, my dream becomes <strong>not a country, but a framework<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Shared markets<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cultural autonomy<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Religious protections<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Soft borders<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>External balancing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>My <strong>dream of a post-Myanmar regional order is now unrealistic but may be, possible to be binaries<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To insist that <strong>Muslims, minorities, <\/strong>and the dispossessed <strong>are not footnotes<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>I may never see your dream realized.<br>Even most GREAT prophets do not.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But I hope and pray that God Willing, dreams like mine will <strong>change the vocabulary<\/strong> future generations will use when old maps finally collapse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why I Call This a Dream<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Because I know how it sounds. Impossible. Naive. Dangerous, even.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But I would rather dream toward dignity than accept permanent violence as normal. I would rather imagine new frameworks than worship failed borders. I would rather speak uncomfortable truths than repeat comfortable lies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is not a call to arms. This is not a political program. This is an invitation to think differently about what comes after the nation-state model breaks down\u2014not with fear, but with principle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To those who share this exhaustion with endless war, endless nationalism, endless betrayal: <strong>What if we stopped trying to rebuild what failed, and started imagining what could work?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Virtual United (Ethnic Minority) States of Asia is not a place on a map.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is a refusal to accept that our only choices are domination or chaos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is a commitment to plural sovereignty, civic equality, and economic dignity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>It is a dream\u2014but dreams are where all honest futures begin.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>I. The Realities We Must First Admit<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before principles, honesty is required. A post-Myanmar order cannot be built on denial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Reality 1: The unitary Myanmar nation-state has already failed<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not hypothetically, not emotionally\u2014<strong>structurally<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Repeated coups<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Permanent civil war<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Weaponized ethnicity and religion<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No trusted national institution<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>What still exists is <strong>coercion<\/strong>, not consent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Reality 2: Democracy alone is not a unifying solution<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The NLD era proved a painful lesson:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Electoral legitimacy without moral courage collapses<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Majority nationalism can coexist with \u201cdemocracy\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Minority protection was never guaranteed<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Therefore, <strong>\u201creturn to democracy\u201d is insufficient<\/strong> as a future vision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Reality 3: Balkanization is not a future risk \u2014 it is a current process<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Whether acknowledged or not:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Wa-like entities<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>De facto autonomous zones<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cross-border patronage<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fragmented sovereignties<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The real question is <strong>how fragmentation will be managed<\/strong>, not whether it will happen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Reality 4: External powers seek buffers, not justice<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>China seeks stability + resources<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>India seeks containment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>ASEAN seeks quiet<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The West seeks moral positioning at low cost<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>No external power will \u201csave\u201d Myanmar.<br>Any future order must assume <strong>self-organization under pressure<\/strong>, not rescue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Reality 5: Religion has been politicized and will not disappear<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Islamophobia is entrenched<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Buddhism is politicized<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Christianity is securitized in some regions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Atheist\/Communist governance offers order but not dignity<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Ignoring religion worsens conflict. Romanticizing it also worsens conflict.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>II. Principles for a Post-Myanmar Order<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>(Not a constitution, not a manifesto\u2014guiding principles for survival with dignity)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Principle 1: Consent over Coercion<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No political unit\u2014state, region, or alliance\u2014can claim legitimacy without <strong>renewable consent<\/strong> of its people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Not historical myths<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Not military victory<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Not electoral rituals alone<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Consent must be <strong>local, plural, and revisable<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Principle 2: Plural Sovereignty, Not Forced Unity<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The obsession with a single, centralized sovereign must end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Future stability lies in:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Overlapping authorities<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Shared competencies<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Soft borders<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Functional cooperation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Unity should be <strong>negotiated<\/strong>, not imposed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Principle 3: Ethnicity Is Cultural; Citizenship Is Civic<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ethnicity must never again define:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Loyalty<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Rights<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Access to power<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Cultural autonomy is legitimate.<br>Political exclusion is not.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No group\u2014Bamar, Shan, Rakhine, Kachin, Muslim, Christian, Buddhist\u2014should fear erasure <strong>or dominance<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Principle 4: Religion Must Be Protected, Not Weaponized<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The future order must adopt a clear ethic:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Freedom of belief is non-negotiable<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No religion may be used as a political weapon<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No community may be securitized for its faith<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This is especially critical for Muslims, who have repeatedly been made <strong>permanent suspects<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Principle 5: Security First, but Not Militarism<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>People choose order over freedom when chaos reigns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Therefore:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Security arrangements must precede political idealism<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Local security forces must be accountable<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>External patrons must be balanced, not worshipped<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Militarism destroys legitimacy.<br>Anarchy destroys hope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Principle 6: Economic Survival Before Ideological Purity<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Future entities\u2014states or regions\u2014must prioritize:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Livelihoods<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Education<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Health<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Infrastructure<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Debt traps, extractive deals, and ideological dogma are all forms of dependency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Economic dignity is the strongest antidote to extremism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Principle 7: No Permanent Enemies, No Permanent Patrons<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>History teaches:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Enemies change<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Allies disappoint<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Patrons extract payment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Future polities must master <strong>strategic flexibility<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Engage China without surrender<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Engage the West without illusion<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Engage neighbors without subservience<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Principle 8: Memory Without Vengeance<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Past crimes must be recorded honestly\u2014but not used endlessly as fuel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Truth is necessary<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Collective punishment is poison<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Endless grievance freezes the future<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Justice must heal, not perpetuate war.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Principle 9: From Nation-State to Regional Frameworks<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Instead of dreaming only of a \u201cnew Myanmar,\u201d future thinkers must imagine:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Cross-border ethnic cooperation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Shared markets<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cultural corridors<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Religious protection networks<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Your intuition of a <strong>United (Ethnic Minority) States of Asia<\/strong> belongs here\u2014not as a country, but as a <strong>framework<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Principle 10: Dignity Over Glory<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The future must reject:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Imperial nostalgia<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Revolutionary romanticism<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Martyrdom politics<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>A quiet life with dignity is worth more than heroic ruins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I am DREAMING about the possibility of the VIRTUAL UNITED (ETHNIC MINORITY) STATES OF ASIA after, virtual Balkanization of Myanmar, China (Tibet and Yunan) and India (east India states).
