He presented <strong>23 probing questions<\/strong>, each demanding careful, factual and honest answers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"258\" height=\"196\" src=\"https:\/\/myanmarmuslim.news\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/image-156.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4065\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>As I began drafting my responses, I felt that these discussions should not remain private\u2014<strong>they must reach the wider public<\/strong>, especially at a time when the world is awash with racism, religious hatred, misinformation, and political manipulation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is why I have decided to publish a serial essay titled:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>\u201c23 Questions and Answers on the Myth of Islamophobia\u201d<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"317\" height=\"159\" src=\"https:\/\/myanmarmuslim.news\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/image-157.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4066\" srcset=\"https:\/\/myanmarmuslim.news\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/image-157.png 317w, https:\/\/myanmarmuslim.news\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/image-157-300x150.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 317px) 100vw, 317px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Although the title is unusual, the tradition behind it is not. It follows the path of classical Myanmar Muslim scholarship, especially the work of <strong>Saya Gyi U Nu<\/strong>, a leading Burmese Muslim writer during the reign of <strong>King Bodawpaya<\/strong>, by the request of <strong>His Majesty Bodawpaya himself, who was the schoolmate at the Royal Monastry. His courage to educate peacefully is exactly what our world needs today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>A World Drowning in Fear, Divisions and Manufactured Hatreds<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The sad reality is unmistakable:<br><strong>Racism, right-wing extremism, and religious hatred exist everywhere<\/strong>\u2014in the US, EU, India, ASEAN countries, Israel, and even within Muslim societies themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Politicians and religious elites frequently <strong>weaponize faith, ethnicity, and fear<\/strong> to secure power. Yet, <strong>all religions teach compassion, justice, loving-kindness and humanity<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As former UN High Commissioner <strong>Mary Robinson<\/strong> wisely warned:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201cToday\u2019s human rights violations are the causes of tomorrow\u2019s conflicts.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Discrimination is a double-edged sword.<br>If we mistreat someone because they are \u201cforeign,\u201d then <strong>we too will be foreign to others<\/strong>, and they could justify mistreating us in the same way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Daw Aung San Suu Kyi once pointed out an uncomfortable truth:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201cThere are people who think that it is right to do anything in the name of their religion, their race, their family, or any organization to which they may belong.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is precisely the mentality that fuels Islamophobia and all forms of hatred.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Human Rights, Equality and the Foundations of Peace<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>UN Charter<\/strong> clearly sets the moral compass:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The purposes of the United Nations include promoting respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms for all, without distinction as to race, sex, language or religion.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Similarly, the Human Rights Committee\u2019s emblem\u2014<br><strong>\u201cEquality, Justice, Dignity\u201d<\/strong>\u2014<br>reminds us that these principles are universal, not selective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yet across decades and continents, millions have suffered discrimination based on:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>race<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>skin color<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>religion<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>language<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>gender<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>nationality<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>ethnic origin<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>even appearance and accents<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>All forms of intolerance inflict real human suffering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Racial discrimination<\/strong>: judging groups instead of individuals<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Xenophobia<\/strong>: fear of the foreign or unfamiliar<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Religious intolerance<\/strong>: denying respect for others&#8217; beliefs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In many deeply religious, authoritarian, or less developed societies, <strong>sexism and racism are not even seen as wrong<\/strong>. Some believe they have the right to divide, exclude, and dominate others simply because they are \u201cdifferent.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Former UN Secretary General <strong>Kofi Annan<\/strong> reminded humanity:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201cThere is no country in the world exempt of discrimination\u2026 Racism can, will, and must be defeated.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He added that ignorance and prejudice are the tools of propaganda, and only <strong>knowledge, tolerance and generosity<\/strong> can overcome them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Why This 23-Part Series Matters<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>There is only one sustainable way to heal divisions between peoples of different faiths, cultures and histories:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Through peaceful dialogue, mutual respect, and honest education.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Islamophobia thrives because many people know little or nothing about Islam except what they see in sensational news headlines.<\/strong> Likewise, Muslims sometimes misunderstand other faiths or cultures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This series\u2014<em><strong>\u201c23 Questions and Answers on the Myth of Islamophobia\u201d<\/strong><\/em>\u2014is my small contribution toward breaking these chains of fear, suspicion and prejudice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If Saya Gyi U Nu could write Islamic classics during the turbulent era of Bodawpaya,<br><strong>we too must speak clearly and calmly today.<\/strong><br><em>Silence allows hatred to grow.<br>Education weakens it.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Kindly read the followup series listed here:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1\/ <a href=\"https:\/\/myanmarmuslim.news\/en\/2025\/12\/01\/q-a-no-1-before-islamization-what-were-the-civilization-and-cultures-of-the-arabs\/\">Q\/A No. 1.
