Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh and DAP\u2019s RSN Rayer have slammed the flying of Israeli flags in a \u201csimulation\u201d of a flotilla convoy on the Kelantan River in support of Palestine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Akmal said the Israeli flag was only fit to be stomped on or burned in Malaysia, and should not have been hoisted even as part of a gimmick.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said the act of flying a flag was akin to showing respect to a nation, adding that Israel did not deserve any respect whatsoever.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI urge the organisers who are said to have flown the Israeli flag as an event gimmick to immediately apologise for their oversight,\u201d he said in a Facebook post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Separately, Rayer questioned Perikatan Nasional\u2019s silence on the flags being \u201cbrazenly displayed\u201d by participants of the convoy, saying the opposition would have been raising a fuss by now if this had happened in Penang.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThere is a deafening silence from the opposition. Where is PAS? Where is Bersatu? Why the silence? Is it because it took place in Kelantan?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhy has no action been taken against those who flew the Israeli flags at Sungai Kelantan until now? The authorities must act fast, no double standards,\u201d he said in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Its event director, Khairul Hafiz Hassan, said there was no intention of glorifying Israel, but only to give attendees an accurate re-enactment of the situation faced by the humanitarian mission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
