They flee because:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Civil war<\/strong> has turned villages into battlegrounds.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <strong>Kyat has collapsed<\/strong>, inflation makes rice, oil, and salt unaffordable.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Basic medicines and utensils are scarce.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Armed groups and robbers<\/strong> terrorize the roads, seizing men for forced conscription.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This is not migration for luxury \u2014 it is survival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Under Trump, even the <strong>USA \u2014 a nation of immigrants \u2014 shut its doors<\/strong> to Myanmar\u2019s persecuted Christians: Chins, Kachin, Karen, Lisu, Rawan and others.<br>Not only as refugees, but even for <strong>student, visit, and work visas.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the same time, Western countries rushed to accept <strong>White Christians from Ukraine<\/strong> and previously Jewish refugees \u2014 with open arms, resources, and compassion.<br>I am not against this. In fact, as a Muslim, I am glad they were welcomed. But why are <strong>Christian ethnic minorities from Myanmar denied the same mercy by Christian-majority countries?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Bible itself commands protection of the refugee:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>\u201cDo not mistreat or oppress a foreigner, for you were foreigners in Egypt.\u201d<\/em> (Exodus 22:21)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>\u201cWhen a stranger resides with you in your land, you shall not do him wrong. You shall love the stranger as yourself.\u201d<\/em> (Leviticus 19:33\u201334)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Jesus taught: <em>\u201cI was a stranger and you invited me in.\u201d<\/em> (Matthew 25:35).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Buddha also warned against selfishness and cruelty. He praised compassion (<em>karu\u1e47\u0101<\/em>) and loving-kindness (<em>mett\u0101<\/em>) toward all beings. The Dhammapada says:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>\u201cHatred is never appeased by hatred in this world; by non-hatred alone is hatred appeased.\u201d<\/em> (Dhammapada 1:5)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>And in the Metta Sutta: <em>\u201cJust as a mother protects her child, her only child, at the risk of her own life, even so let one cultivate a boundless heart toward all beings.\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Yet governments today, whether Muslim, Christian, Hindu, or Buddhist, <strong>close their borders and their hearts.<\/strong> They forget that refugees are not a burden \u2014 they are human beings, victims of war and persecution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Faith without compassion is hypocrisy.<\/strong><br>Whether Muslim, Christian, or Buddhist, leaders who reject refugees betray their own holy books.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Muslim Governments Betray Quran and Sunnah by Deporting Refugees<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite clear Islamic commands to protect the oppressed and host migrants with dignity, OIC member states arrest and deport Myanmar refugees \u2014 sending them back to civil war, forced conscription, and death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yet, instead of showing mercy, OIC governments arrest, harass, and deport them back into the hands of the junta, where young men are forced into slavery as <strong>porters, human shields, mine-sweepers, and soldiers.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Islam is crystal clear on how to treat the oppressed. Islam already taught us how to respond: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Stand against tyrants<\/strong> \u2014  Our Prophet \ufdfa said:<em>\u201cThe best jihad is a word of truth before a tyrant ruler.\u201d<\/em> (Abu Dawood, Tirmidhi)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Allow migration when powerless<\/strong> \u2014 Qur\u2019an (4:97) condemns those who refuse to flee oppression when they can.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Host refugees with honor<\/strong> \u2014 The Qur\u2019an praises the Ansar who welcomed migrants:<em>\u201cThey prefer others over themselves, even though poverty is their own lot.\u201d<\/em> (59:9).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Protect even non-Muslim refugees<\/strong> \u2014 Our Prophet \ufdfa commanded:<em>\u201cWhoever kills a non-Muslim under protection will not smell Paradise.\u201d<\/em> (Bukhari).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>To call the oppressed \u201cillegal migrants\u201d is not only unjust \u2014 it is a <strong>direct betrayal of Qur\u2019an and Sunnah<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Muslim rulers who turn their backs on these refugees are not defending Islam.
