{"id":2507,"date":"2025-09-02T05:51:22","date_gmt":"2025-09-02T05:51:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/myanmarmuslim.news\/en\/?p=2507"},"modified":"2025-09-02T05:54:58","modified_gmt":"2025-09-02T05:54:58","slug":"asean-futures-navigating-regionalism-reconciliation-and-rapprochement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/myanmarmuslim.news\/en\/2025\/09\/02\/asean-futures-navigating-regionalism-reconciliation-and-rapprochement\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018ASEAN Futures: Navigating Regionalism, Reconciliation, and Rapprochement\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Zambry Abdul Kadir greets guests after launching the Institute of Internationalization and Asean Studies (INTAS) and the book Education of the Interior: Essays in Honour of Professor Syed Ali Ashraf at the International Institute of Islamic Thought and Civilisation (ISTAC), IIUM Kuala Lumpur campus, today. \u2014 Bernama pic<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 2 \u2014&nbsp;The establishment of the Institute of International and ASEAN Studies (IINTAS) under the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) marked a significant step in strengthening Malaysia\u2019s leadership within ASEAN, said Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Prime Minister said IINTAS would strengthen Malaysia\u2019s regional role by producing credible research, policy ideas and strategic insights to support ASEAN\u2019s cohesion and global positioning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said that in this time of uncertainty, ASEAN, a long respected zone of peace and cooperation, faces serious challenges, including recent tensions between Thailand and Cambodia that have displaced more than 300,000 people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhile both sides have agreed to a ceasefire, the region must remain vigilant. Efforts to restore stability must be sustained. Malaysia took early steps by hosting both the Thai and Cambodian leaderships in Kuala Lumpur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis was a conscious choice. We are committed to dialogue, to peace, and to preserving the cooperative spirit of ASEAN.
