Billions of yuan in Wa-owned assets have been frozen, border gates sealed, and even ordinary Wa civilians arrested inside China. Instead of confronting the war criminals in Naypyitaw who burn villages and bomb civilians, China has chosen to punish those resisting oppression. Far from a neutral broker, Beijing has become the junta\u2019s enabler.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Trump\u2013Anwar: A Chance to Shift the Balance<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In October, Donald Trump and Malaysia\u2019s Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim are set to meet. Commentators expect tensions over Israel\u2013Palestine to dominate. Trump risks a backlash from Jewish constituencies in the U.S., while Anwar faces the fury of Malay Muslims at home. Both leaders could emerge weakened, their meeting reduced to political theatre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But there is another path: <strong>set aside a head-on clash and focus on Myanmar<\/strong>. Pressuring China to bring the junta to peace talks could be the common ground where both Trump and Anwar gain politically and economically.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Trump would demonstrate global leadership by curbing China\u2019s influence in Myanmar, extending America\u2019s foothold in Southeast Asia.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Anwar could show Malaysia\u2019s Muslim-majority public that he is not merely reactive on Palestine but proactive in reducing suffering in Myanmar, a cause close to the region\u2019s conscience.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Both leaders could claim credit for reducing the migrant crisis spilling into ASEAN.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Buddhist Parable for Modern Politics<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In Myanmar\u2019s Jataka tales, there is a famous line: <strong>\u201cThar Shwe Ooh Htan Lar Dar Myin Chin Thee\u201d<\/strong>\u2014<em>\u201cBlind parents could see their dead son carrying a pot of gold.\u201d<\/em> The meaning: even in tragedy, all sides may gain something of value.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Applied to Myanmar today, it points to a rare win-win:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The people gain peace.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The junta avoids annihilation through a negotiated settlement.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ethnic revolutionary organizations (EROs) secure political guarantees.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Minorities gain recognition and dignity.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>China retains trade routes without being seen as complicit in genocide.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>ASEAN eases the refugee crisis.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The U.S. establishes a stronger strategic role in the region.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Even Trump and Anwar emerge not as divided adversaries but as pragmatic leaders.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Verdict<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>China\u2019s sanctions on the Wa reveal its real face: an imperial power more concerned with pipelines than people. The October Trump\u2013Anwar meeting offers a chance to change the script. Instead of fighting each other over Palestine, both should <strong>turn together against Beijing\u2019s stranglehold on Myanmar<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If they succeed, this could be the rarest of outcomes in international politics: a moment when everyone\u2014people, governments, and even rivals\u2014walks away with the pot of gold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Closing note:<\/strong><br>China\u2019s selective support for EROs is not about justice, but about control.
