US intelligence report has concluded that American strikes on Iran set back Tehran\u2019s nuclear programme by just a few months \u2014 rather than destroying it as claimed by President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
US media on Tuesday cited people familiar with the Defense Intelligence Agency findings as saying the weekend strikes did not fully eliminate Iran\u2019s centrifuges or stockpile of enriched uranium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The strikes sealed off entrances to some facilities without destroying underground buildings, according to the report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
White House Press Secretary Karline Leavitt confirmed the authenticity of the assessment but said it was \u201cflat-out wrong and was classified as \u2018top secret\u2019 but was still leaked.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe leaking of this alleged assessment is a clear attempt to demean President Trump, and discredit the brave fighter pilots who conducted a perfectly executed mission to obliterate Iran\u2019s nuclear program,\u201d Leavitt posted on X.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cEveryone knows what happens when you drop fourteen 30,000 pound bombs perfectly on their targets: total obliteration,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
US B-2 bombers hit two Iranian nuclear sites with massive GBU-57 bunker-buster bombs over the weekend, while a guided missile submarine struck a third with Tomahawk cruise missiles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Trump called the strikes a \u201cspectacular military success\u201d and said they had \u201cobliterated\u201d the nuclear sites, while Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said Washington\u2019s forces had \u201cdevastated the Iranian nuclear programme.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
General Dan Caine, the top US military officer, has struck a more cautious tone, saying the strikes caused \u201cextremely severe damage\u201d to the Iranian facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Iran\u2019s government said Tuesday that it had \u201ctaken the necessary measures\u201d to ensure the continuation of its nuclear programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cPlans for restarting (the facilities) have been prepared in advance, and our strategy is to ensure that production and services are not disrupted,\u201d the head of the Atomic Energy Organisation of Iran, Mohammad Eslami, said in a statement aired on state television.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
An adviser to Iran\u2019s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, meanwhile said his country still had stocks of enriched uranium and that \u201cthe game is not over.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
