Testimony of CDM Captain Nay Myo Thet to Myanmar Now
Originally, in Buthidaung Township of Rakhine State, there was only one Military Police Battalion. However, after Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s government came to power, this was expanded to eight battalions, each consisting of approximately 300–400 troops.
What is truly astonishing is that only after this massive military buildup did ARSA attacks occur. This strongly suggests that the Myanmar military had already planned the large-scale killings well in advance. Orders were systematically issued to kill, expel the population, burn villages, and erase all evidence so that no trace would remain. Soldiers were explicitly given unlimited permission to use ammunition and weapons without restriction.
Soldiers, being human themselves, were nevertheless ordered to burn, kill, and eradicate other human beings—the Rohingya. When Myanmar Now journalist Ko Min Min asked Captain Nay Myo Thet whether any soldiers hesitated to carry out these acts, he replied:
“Because they view the Rohingya as ‘Bengali kalars,’ they feel there is nothing morally special about killing them. Almost all of them believe that killing Rohingya is a duty—to protect race and religion—and that, as soldiers, they are performing a righteous act to ensure the flourishing of Buddhism in this country.”
The military would enter villages and order the men to come outside. The women left inside the houses were told they were being searched for weapons, then forced to strip naked. While the army was still in the process of killing and burning Rohingya villages—and before moving on to the next village—large crowds of local civilians followed closely behind, ready to enter the cleared villages to loot cattle, buffaloes, motorcycles, and household property.
Captain Nay Myo Thet did not explicitly name these looters as Rakhine people. Therefore, the author ironically suggests that these looters must be the so-called “aliens” (extraterrestrials) referred to by Senior General Tun Myat Naing—because, according to official narratives, local people were supposedly not involved.

Some Crimes Committed by the Military During the Rohingya Crackdown
Revealed by CDM Captain Nay Myo Thet
During the Rohingya crisis in Rakhine State in 2017, senior military commanders systematically ordered and authorized lower-ranking soldiers to carry out various forms of violence, allowing them to commit abuses freely as part of a coordinated suppression campaign. This was revealed to Myanmar Now by a captain who personally participated in the operations at the time.
Captain Nay Myo Thet, a graduate of the 51st intake of the Defence Services Academy, has since defected from the junta and joined the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM). He served 13 years in the military, including 7 years in northern Rakhine State.
He explained that soldiers burned Rohingya villages, looted whatever property they could, and killed civilians, and that senior commanders gave clear instructions to ensure no evidence whatsoever was left behind. Captain Nay Myo Thet served as a logistics officer during the military operation codenamed “Zwe Man Htun”, and Myanmar Now interviewed him directly regarding these events.

မူလက ရခိုင်ပြည်နယ် ဘူးသီးတောင်မှာ စစ်ရဲတပ်ရင်းတစ်ရင်းသာရှိခဲ့ရာက ဒေါ်စုအစိုးရတက်တဲ့အခါ စစ်ရဲတပ်ရင်းရှစ်ရင်း တိုးချဲ့ခဲ့တယ်။ တစ်ရင်းမှာ အင်အားက ၃၀၀ကနေ ၄၀၀အထိရှိတယ်။ ဒီလိုပေါ်လာပြီးမှ အာဆာကဝင်တိုက်တယ်ဆိုတာ အတော်လေးကိုအံ့ဩဖို့ကောင်းတယ်။ စစ်တပ်က ဒီသတ်ဖြတ်မှုကြီးကို အချိန်ယူကြိုတင်ကြံစည်ခဲ့ပြီး သတ်ဖြတ်မောင်းထုတ်ဖို့၊ မီးရှို့ပြီး ခြေရာလက်ရာ မကျန်အောင် သဲလွန်စဖျောက် ရှင်းထုတ်ပစ်ဖို့ အတိအကျ အမိန့််ပေးစေခိုင်းခဲ့တယ်။ သတ်ဖြတ်ရာမှာ ကြိုက်သလောက် ကျည်လက်နက်ကို အကန့်အသတ်မဲ့လည်း သုံးခွင့်ပေးထားတယ်။
စစ်သည်တွေကလည်း လူသားတွေဖြစ်လို့ လူသားဖြစ်တဲ့ ရိုဟင်ဂျာတွေကို အခုလိုမီးရှို့ရမယ်။ သတ်ဖြတ်ရမယ်။ ဖယ်ထုတ်ရမှာကို လက်တွန့်နေကြသူတွေရှိလားလို့ မြန်မာနောင်းသတင်းထောက် ကိုမင်းမင်းကမေးတဲ့အခါ ဗိုလ်ကြီးနေမျိုးသက်က
“သူတို့တွေက ဘဂ်ါလီကုလားတွေဖြစ်လို့ သူတို့ကိုသတ်ဖို့ ထွေထွေထူးထူးမလိုဘူးလို့ သူတို့စိတ်ထဲမှာ ရှိနေကြတယ်။ သူတို့ကိုသတ်လိုက်ခြင်းက အမျိုးဘာသာသာသနာအတွက် ဒီနိုင်ငံမှာ သာသနာတော် ပြန့်ပွါးဖို့အတွက်ကို စစ်သည်တော်တစ်ယောက်အနေနဲ့ ဖြစ်တယ်ဆိုတဲ့ ယုံကြည်ချက်မျိုးကရှိတဲ့သူက အကုန်လုံးလိုလိုပဲ။”
ရွာတွေကိုဝင်ပြီး အမျိုးသားတွေအပြင်ထွက်ခိုင်း၊ အိမ်ထဲမှာကျန်တဲ့ အမျိုးသမီးတွေကို လက်နက်ရှာတယ်ဆိုပြီး အဝတ်အကုန်ချွတ်ခိုင်းတယ်။ စစ်တပ်က ရိုဟင်ဂျာရွာတွေဝင်ပြီး သတ်ဖြတ်မီးရှို့ ရှင်းလင်းလို့မပြီးခင်၊ နောက်တစ်ရွာကို မကူးခင်မှာ စစ်တပ်ရှင်းနေတဲ့ရွာထဲဝင်ပြီး ကျွဲတွေနွားတွေ၊ ဆိုင်ကယ်တွေ၊ ပစ္စည်းဥစ္စာတွေကို သယ်ယူဖို့ ဒေသခံလူအုပ်ကြီးကလည်း နောက်ကအဆင်သင့်လိုက်နေကြတယ်။
ဗိုလ်ကြီးနေမျိုးသက်က ရခိုင်လူမျိုးတွေလို့ မပြောခဲ့တဲ့အတွက် အခုလို ခိုးယူလုယက်နေကြတဲ့ ဒေသခံတွေဟာ ဗိုလ်ချုပ်ထွန်းမြတ်နိုင်ပြောတဲ့ အဂ်ါဂြိုဟ်သားတွေပဲ ဖြစ်မှာပါ။

၂၀၁၇ခုနှစ်အတွင်းဖြစ်ပွားခဲ့တဲ့ ရခိုင်ပြည်နယ်က ရိုဟင်ဂျာအရေးအခင်းမှာ စစ်တပ်အကြီးအကဲတွေက အောက်ခြေစစ်သားတွေကို အကြမ်းဖက်မှုမျိုးစုံ လုပ်ခွင့်ပေးပြီး ရိုဟင်ဂျာနှိမ်နင်းရေးကို စနစ်တကျ လုပ်ခိုင်းခဲ့တာလို့ အဲ့ဒီအရေးအခင်းကာလမှာ ကိုယ်တိုင်ကိုယ်ကျ ပါဝင်ခဲ့တဲ့ ဗိုလ်ကြီးတစ်ဦးက Myanmar Now ကို ပြောပါတယ်။
လက်ရှိမှာ စစ်ကောင်စီတပ်ကို စွန့်ခွာပြီး CDM ဝင်လာတဲ့ စစ်တက္ကသိုလ်အပတ်စဉ် ၅၁က ဗိုလ်ကြီးနေမျိုးသက်ဟာ စစ်မှုထမ်းသက် ၁၃နှစ်ရှိပြီး ရခိုင်ပြည်နယ်မြောက်ပိုင်းမှာ ၇နှစ် တာဝန်ထမ်းဆောင်ခဲ့သူ ဖြစ်ပါတယ်။
စစ်သားတွေက ရိုဟင်ဂျာရွာတွေကို မီးရှို့ဖျက်ဆီး၊ ရသမျှပစ္စည်းကိုယူပြီး လူတွေကိုသတ်တဲ့ အဲ့ဒီဖြစ်ရပ်မှာ ဘာသဲလွန်စမှ မကျန်ရလေအောင် စစ်တပ်အကြီးအကဲတွေက အပြောင်ရှင်းခိုင်းတဲ့အကြောင်းတွေကို “ဇွဲမာန်ဟုန်’ လို့အမည်ပေးထားတဲ့ အဲ့ဒီစစ်ဆင်ရေးမှာ ထောက်ပို့အရာရှိအဖြစ်ပါဝင်ခဲ့တဲ့ ဗိုလ်ကြီးနေမျိုးသက် ကို Myanmar Now က ဆက်သွယ်မေးမြန်းထားပါတယ်။
