President Donald Trump, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, and White House policy adviser Stephen Miller have repeatedly emphasized one central idea: the American continent is the United States’ sphere of influence. In this worldview, the Western Hemisphere is treated as an “American-owned” geopolitical space, where no other major power should be allowed to expand its influence, economy, or military presence without U.S. consent.

This thinking is not new. It echoes a hardened interpretation of the Monroe Doctrine, but what is alarming today is the open and unapologetic way it is being expressed. The message is blunt: America decides; America dominates; America permits.

Trump has even spoken—sometimes provocatively, sometimes ambiguously—about acquiring Greenland (which belongs to Denmark). He has also repeatedly threatened or hinted at military pressure against countries such as Panama, Mexico, Cuba, Iran, and has openly antagonized Canada, a long-standing ally. Whether all of these statements would ever translate into real policy is beside the point; such rhetoric itself has consequences.

From the perspective of international law, a powerful state justifying intervention or territorial control over weaker states is a violation of the post–World War II global order. When the leader of the most powerful country in the world speaks this way, it sends a dangerous signal.

Europe understands this clearly. If the Americas are declared a U.S.-only sphere, then by the same logic Eastern and even Central Europe could be treated as Russia’s legitimate sphere of influence. Unsurprisingly, many European states feel demoralized and deeply alarmed—because such thinking effectively greenlights further Russian expansion.

Extend this logic further:

• If the Americas belong to the United States,
• Europe can be claimed by Russia,
• Asia, inevitably, becomes China’s sphere of dominance.

This is why Trump’s rhetoric matters globally, not just domestically.

Those who blindly support Trump should pause and think carefully.

Trump is not a democrat by conviction. His consistent interests are money and power. He shows admiration for authoritarian leaders who can offer him leverage, deals, or personal advantage. This is why he often appears comfortable with strongmen and indifferent to democratic norms.

Under what some analysts loosely call the “Trump Doctrine”—transactional, interest-based, and dismissive of alliances—Taiwan’s security becomes dangerously uncertain. If China can argue that Taiwan is essential to its strategic and economic interests, and if the United States itself justifies intervention elsewhere on similar grounds (for example, oil, security, or strategic access), then what moral or legal argument remains to stop Beijing?

Experts are already asking uncomfortable questions:
If the U.S. can justify coercive action to secure resources or influence,
why should China be restrained from seizing Taiwan—especially when Taiwan is central to the global supply of advanced semiconductor chips?

Think again, blindly loyal supporters.

By the same logic, China could also justify deeper intervention in Myanmar, arguing that instability, violence, and uncontrolled conflict threaten its national security. If “security concerns” are accepted as a universal excuse, Myanmar becomes extremely vulnerable.

And do not deceive yourselves:
If foreign troops ever enter Myanmar, it will not be American forces.
It will be Chinese forces.

Do not forget this.

If China enters, those who are already barely surviving—those shouting slogans without power or protection—will not become heroes. They will disappear silently, buried without dignity.

History is ruthless in this way.

If you support lawlessness, injustice, or power politics today—even if it suits you in the short term—do not be surprised when that same lawlessness arrives at your own doorstep tomorrow.

Power without principle always comes home.

ထရမ့်က မူးယစ်ဆေးဝါးပြောလိုက်၊ မဲခိုးတဲ့သမ္မတပြောလိုက်၊ လူထုကိုနှိပ်စက်တဲ့ အာဏာရှင်ပြောလိုက်နဲ့ အခုနောက်ဆုံးမှာ ရေနံကိုပြောင်းပြောပြီး လက်ရှိသမ္မတဖြစ်လာတဲ့ ဒုသမ္မတဒဲလ်စီက သူ့စကားနားထောင်ရင် သူမဖြုတ်ချတော့ဘူး ဖြစ်လာတယ်။ သူ့ကိုရေနံပေးရင် ဗင်နီဇွဲလားလူထုကို ဆက်ဖိနှိပ်လို့ရတဲ့ အာဏာရှင်ဆက်လုပ်ခွင့်ပေးမယ် ဖြစ်သွားပြီ။ ဒီမိုကရေစီတွေ၊ လူ့အခွင့်အရေးတွေ၊ မဲခိုးတာတွေ၊ လူထုနှိပ်စက်တာတွေ မေ့ထားလိုက်ပြီ။

ဒိန်းမတ်ပိုင် ဂရင်းလန်ကိုလည်း သိမ်းမယ်။ ကိုလံဘီယာ၊ ပနားမား၊ မက္ကဆီကို၊ ကျူးဘားနဲ့ အီရန်တို့ကို လိုအပ်ရင် ဝင်တိုက်သိမ်းဖို့ အဆင်သင့်ရှိတယ်လို့လည်း ပြောနေတယ်။ ကနေဒါကိုလည်း ရန်ရှာနေတယ်။

အင်အားကြီးတဲ့နိုင်ငံက အင်အားသေးတဲ့ နိုင်ငံကို အကြောင်းပြဝင်သိမ်းလို့ရတဲ့ နိုင်ငံတကာဥပဒေ ချိုးဖောက်မှုဖြစ်လို့၊ ရုရှားက ဥရောပနိုင်ငံတွေကို ပိုသိမ်းဖို့ မီးစိမ်းပြလိုက်သလို ဖြစ်သွားပြီဆိုပြီး ဥရောပနိုင်ငံအားလုံး အကြီးအကျယ် စိတ်ဓါတ်ကျ၊ စိတ်ဓါတ်ပျက်ကုန်ကြပြီ။

အမေရိကန်ကို အမြဲတန်းထောက်ခံနေတဲ့ အနောက်ဒီမိုကရေစီနိုင်ငံ တစ်နိုင်ငံမှ ထရမ့်လုပ်ရပ်ကို မထောက်ခံကြဘူး။ တချို့ဥရောပနိုင်ငံတွေက ထရမ့်ကို ပစ်တင်ရှုံ့ချကြတယ်။ အများစုက မကြိုက်ပေမယ့် ထရမ့်ကိုကြောက်လို့ အပစ်မတင်ရဲကြဘူး။

မြန်မာပြည်ကို နိုင်ငံခြားတပ်ဝင်ရင် နင်တို့အဘ အမေရိကန်မဟုတ်ဘူး။ နင်တို့ပထွေး တရုတ်သာဖြစ်တယ်ဆိုတာ မမေ့ကြနဲ့။

တရုတ်ဝင်ရင် မသေမရှင် ဖုတ်လိုက်ဖုတ်လိုက်မြော့နေတဲ့ နင်တို့ဒီမိုတွေလည်း အရှင်လတ်လတ် သခ်ျိုင်းရောက်သွားပြီဆိုတာကိုလည်း ပိုပြီးတော့ မမေ့ကြနဲ့။
