Almost all the governments around the world had betrayed their own faiths by deporting or blocking refugees especially from Myanmar.
By deporting or refusing to accept Refugees from Myanmar:
1/ Muslim Governments Betray Quran and Sunnah, and even
2/ Christian Governments and
3/Buddhist Governments Forget Their Religious Teachings
Deporting Refugees = Betraying of all the religion: Christianity, Buddhism and Islam.
Today, most of the governments around the world — dismiss Myanmar refugees as “economic migrants.” But this is a cruel lie.
No one abandons their home, family, and land just for money. They flee because:
- Civil war has turned villages into battlegrounds.
- The Kyat has collapsed, inflation makes rice, oil, and salt unaffordable.
- Basic medicines and utensils are scarce.
- Armed groups and robbers terrorize the roads, seizing men for forced conscription.
This is not migration for luxury — it is survival.
Under Trump, even the USA — a nation of immigrants — shut its doors to Myanmar’s persecuted Christians: Chins, Kachin, Karen, Lisu, Rawan and others.
Not only as refugees, but even for student, visit, and work visas.
At the same time, Western countries rushed to accept White Christians from Ukraine and previously Jewish refugees — with open arms, resources, and compassion.
I am not against this. In fact, as a Muslim, I am glad they were welcomed. But why are Christian ethnic minorities from Myanmar denied the same mercy by Christian-majority countries?
The Bible itself commands protection of the refugee:
- “Do not mistreat or oppress a foreigner, for you were foreigners in Egypt.” (Exodus 22:21)
- “When a stranger resides with you in your land, you shall not do him wrong. You shall love the stranger as yourself.” (Leviticus 19:33–34)
- Jesus taught: “I was a stranger and you invited me in.” (Matthew 25:35).
Buddha also warned against selfishness and cruelty. He praised compassion (karuṇā) and loving-kindness (mettā) toward all beings. The Dhammapada says:
- “Hatred is never appeased by hatred in this world; by non-hatred alone is hatred appeased.” (Dhammapada 1:5)
- And in the Metta Sutta: “Just as a mother protects her child, her only child, at the risk of her own life, even so let one cultivate a boundless heart toward all beings.”
Yet governments today, whether Muslim, Christian, Hindu, or Buddhist, close their borders and their hearts. They forget that refugees are not a burden — they are human beings, victims of war and persecution.
Faith without compassion is hypocrisy.
Whether Muslim, Christian, or Buddhist, leaders who reject refugees betray their own holy books.
Muslim Governments Betray Quran and Sunnah by Deporting Refugees
Despite clear Islamic commands to protect the oppressed and host migrants with dignity, OIC member states arrest and deport Myanmar refugees — sending them back to civil war, forced conscription, and death.
Yet, instead of showing mercy, OIC governments arrest, harass, and deport them back into the hands of the junta, where young men are forced into slavery as porters, human shields, mine-sweepers, and soldiers.
Islam is crystal clear on how to treat the oppressed. Islam already taught us how to respond:
- Stand against tyrants — Our Prophet ﷺ said:“The best jihad is a word of truth before a tyrant ruler.” (Abu Dawood, Tirmidhi)
- Allow migration when powerless — Qur’an (4:97) condemns those who refuse to flee oppression when they can.
- Host refugees with honor — The Qur’an praises the Ansar who welcomed migrants:“They prefer others over themselves, even though poverty is their own lot.” (59:9).
- Protect even non-Muslim refugees — Our Prophet ﷺ commanded:“Whoever kills a non-Muslim under protection will not smell Paradise.” (Bukhari).
To call the oppressed “illegal migrants” is not only unjust — it is a direct betrayal of Qur’an and Sunnah.
Muslim rulers who turn their backs on these refugees are not defending Islam. They are siding with tyrants.
History will not forget the hypocrisy of the world.
