Recently, I’ve been deeply troubled watching monks brandishing sticks and swords. That brought to mind a passage I read in U Nu’s Five Seasons of Burma, which I’d like to share:
“If I err, let me be wrong. But one truth I believe: monks who seek political power are like sugarcane cut into pieces—they can’t bear even the slightest bitterness. These gentle souls, unaccustomed to hardship or suffering, are being dragged weekly into politics.
Monastics are not like ordinary people. Their lives are safeguarded by 227 rules—covering over nine thousand subtleties—making their existence as delicate as a silkworm on a dew drop. They live in profound gentleness and restraint.
Yet those exceedingly gentle individuals are now participating in the harshest arena imaginable: politics. How can that be fitting?
True monks dedicate themselves modestly to monastic duties and community rituals. They perform weekly chanting, observe precepts, and maintain daily observances—even making ritual offerings. They never enter worldly workplaces.
Those who do—enter politics—have been misled, likely without knowing the gravity of their offense. We must feel compassion for them.”

Reflection:
What forgiveness do we offer those who not only kill and burn, but incite others to do so? Can we ever “grant absolution” to someone who ordered violence from the shadows—or those who delivered the flames with their own hands?

ယခုလက်ရှိ တုတ်တွေ၊ ဓါးတွေကိုင်ထားတဲ့ ဘုန်ကြီးပုံတွေတွေ့ရတော့ များစွာ စိတ်မကောင်းဖြစ်မိတယ်။ ဒါကြောင့် ကျွန်တော်ဖတ်ခဲ့ဖူးတဲ့ ဦးနုရဲ့ ငါးနှစ်ရာသီ ဗမာပြည်စာအုပ်ထဲက စာသားတချို့ကို ပြန်လည်ဝေမျှလိုက်ပါတယ်….
“ကျွန်တော်မှားချင်လည်း မှားမည်။ ကျွန်တော်၏ ယုံကြည်ချက်တစ်ခုမှာ အခြားမဟုတ်။ ဘုန်းကြီးအားကိုးနှင့် နိုင်ငံရေးလုပ်သူများမှာ အချောင်သမားများဖြစ်ကြသည် ဟူသော အချက်ပင် ဖြစ်လေသည်။ ကိုယ်တိုင်က အပင်ပန်းလည်း မခံနိုင်၊ အနစ်နာလည်း မခံနိုင်သဖြင့် ကိုယ်တော်များကို တစ်ပတ်ရိုက်ပြီး နိုင်ငံရေးထဲ ဆွဲသွင်းခြင်း ဖြစ်သည်ဟု ကျွန်တော် ယုံကြည်သည်။
ရဟန်းများသည် လူနှင့်မတူ။ သိက္ခာပုဒ်ပေါင်း အကျဉ်းအားဖြင့် ၂၂၇ပါး၊ အကျယ်အားဖြင့် ကုဋေ ကိုးထောင်ကျော်မျှ ထိန်းထားရသဖြင့် ရဟန်း၏ ဘဝသည် အပ်ဖျားပေါ်တွင် မုန်ညင်းစေ့ တင်ထားရသလို အလွန်နူးညံ သိမ့်မွေ့လှသည်ဟု ဘုရားဟောရှိ၏။
ထိုသို့ နူးညံသိမ့်မွေ့သော ဘဝရှိသည့် ကိုယ်တော်များသည် အလွန်ကြမ်းတမ်းသည့် လောကီအလုပ်များတွင် အကြမ်းတမ်းဆုံးဟု ဆိုအပ်သည့် နိုင်ငံရေးလုပ်ငန်းကို အဘယ်မှာလျင် လုပ်၍ဖြစ်နိုင်ပါအံနည်း။
ကိုယ့်ကျောင်း၊ ကိုယ့်သင်္ကန်းနှင့် လူသူအတွေ့မခံဘဲ နူးညံသိမ့်မွေ့စွာ ပရိယက် ပဋိပတ် လုပ်ငန်းများကိုသာ အားထုတ်နေသည့် ကိုယ်တော်များပင်လျှင် အာပတ် မကြာခဏသင့်၍ အာပတ်ဖြေရခြင်း၊ ဥပုဒ်ပြုရခြင်း ဝတ်စောင့်ရခြင်း အစရှိသော ဆေးကြောရသည့် လုပ်ငန်းများကို မကြာခဏ လုပ်ရသေးသည်။
လူအလုပ်ကို ဝင်၍လုပ်ကြသော ကိုယ်တော်များမှာမူကား အဘယ်ဆိုဖွယ်ရာ ရှိတော့အံနည်း။ ထိုကိုယ်တော်များကို နိုင်ငံရေးထဲဆွဲသွင်းသော လူများသည် ကုယ့်အပြစ် ဘယ်လောက်ကြီးသည်ကို မသိကြသဖြင့် သနားစရာပင် ဖြစ်တော့၏။” (ဦးနုရေး ငါးနှစ်ရာသီ ဗမာပြည်မှ)
လူတွေသတ်၊ မီးတွေရှို့နေတဲ့ ကိုယ်တော်တွေရော လူတွေသတ် မီးတွေရှို့ဖြစ်အောင် လှုံဆော်ခဲ့တဲ့ ကိုယ်တော်တွေရော ဘယ်လို အာပတ်ဖြေမလဲ သိချင်မိတယ်။ အာပတ်ရော ဖြေလို့ ရပါ့မလား…..
Anti-Islam and Anti-OIC protests by Buddhist monks
Demanding the Myanmar Government and Bama Military to stop the Anti-Islam and Anti-OIC protests
We hereby demand the Myanmar Government and Bama Military to stop the Anti-Islam and Anti-OIC protests.
If they fail to control or stop these nonsense this could lead to the widespread Anti-Muslim protests throughout Myanmar.
President U Thein Sein led USDP party, Myanmar Government and Myanmar Military would be held responsible for the loss of properties and lives of Muslims at the UN and ICC if these protests escalates into anti-Muslim Riots in any part of Myanmar.
Buddhist Monks (Myanmar SPDC secret police/MI provocator) headed and started the anti-Muslim riots and destroyed the mosques, damaged the Quarans.
They looted the Muslim shops, houses and properties.
They assaulted, torturd and killed Myanmar Muslims.
- This rioter with the long stick has long hairs. It shows that he is not a real monk but the MI agent provocator.
- You could read about them from the US Secretary of state’s Human Rights reports.
- They were spotted waring underwear (singlets) issued as army uniform, talking on walkie-talkies (only issued to Military Intelligent agents) and even riding motor-bikes. (True monks are forbidden from riding motor-bike in Myanmar.)
- Few of them were carrying pistols. (Firearm control is very strict and ordinary citizens and the monks are forbidden from carrying guns.)
