At the Rohingya genocide tribunal held on January 12, Gambia’s lead prosecutor Aslam Suleman presented evidence and filed charges against Senior General Min Aung Hlaing for the genocide of the Rohingya people.
Prosecutor Aslam Suleman quoted a speech made by Senior General Min Aung Hlaing in September 2017, stating that Min Aung Hlaing referenced historical terrorist attacks to justify current attacks against the Rohingya as legitimate. He presented a translated speech where Min Aung Hlaing mentioned attacks that occurred in 1942.
Additionally, the same September 2017 speech was cited where he stated that Bengalis are increasing in population, saying “You don’t lose your ethnicity through losing land, you lose your ethnicity through losing your people,” and that such things must never happen again.
As the third piece of evidence, a speech from December 2017 was translated and presented. In this evidence, Min Aung Hlaing stated that the military must protect ethnic nationalities, claiming the military was protecting them from fears of ethnic cleansing.
These points were presented as false statements and hate speech by Min Aung Hlaing to justify the genocide of Rohingya as legitimate action.
Evidence was also presented showing that the military institution itself spread hate speech encouraging genocide. One piece of evidence showed training materials stating “The Kalar who are good at warfare are in danger of swallowing us whole.” It also repeated “You don’t lose your ethnicity through land, you lose it through people.” The training also incited racial hatred by claiming Bengali Muslims were spreading their religion and Buddhism would disappear.
A photo was presented that the military’s True News Information disseminated showing Rohingya supposedly killing ethnic people, but evidence proved this was actually a photo from the Rwandan genocide, demonstrating the military used fake images for propaganda.
Another image posted by the military showed Bengalis supposedly entering en masse during the British colonial period. This photo was also proven to be from the Rwandan genocide showing refugees fleeing en masse, demonstrating the military’s use of fake propaganda images.
The third fake propaganda image from the military claimed to show Bengalis illegally entering Myanmar in large numbers. Evidence showed this was actually an image of Rohingya fleeing en masse due to genocide.
Evidence was presented that the Rakhine Nationalities Development Party (RNDP), led by Dr. Aye Maung, incited genocide. The writings included statements that Hitler and Eichmann, enemies to the Jews, would have been heroes to the Germans.
Statements by U Nay Myo Wai, chairman of the Diversity and Peace Party, were also submitted as evidence of genocide. Evidence showed that Nay Myo Wai said about Rohingya: “Number one, shoot and kill; number two, shoot and kill; number three, shoot and bury.”
Furthermore, evidence was presented of U Wirathu saying it’s better to adopt a dog than a Kalar, and Sitagu Sayadaw U Nyanissara preaching using the Dutthagamani Jataka story that non-Buddhists are not real humans, so killing them won’t result in great hell.
Military circles stated that Senior General Min Aung Hlaing was dissatisfied with Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s defense regarding the Rohingya genocide. However, he is now being personally named and charged in connection with the Rohingya genocide.
Currently, it appears that Minister U Ko Ko Hlaing from the President’s Office Ministry 2 and Attorney General Daw Thida Oo have been dispatched from Myanmar’s side to file counter-arguments.

အဲဒီအချက်တွေဟာ ရိုဟင်ဂျာတွေကိုလူမျိုးတုံးသတ်ဖြတ်တာမှန်ကန်တဲ့လုပ်ရပ်ဖြစ်ကြောင်း သက်သေထူဖို့အတွက် ဗိုလ်ချုပ်မင်းအောင်လှိုင်က မဟုတ်မမှန်ပြောဆိုပြီး အမုန်းစကားပြောကြားခဲ့တာတွေလို့ဆိုပါတယ်။
တပ်မတော်ဆိုတဲ့အင်စတီကျူးရှင်းကိုယ်တိုင်ကလည်း လူမျိုးတုံးသတ်ဖြတ်မှုကို အားပေးတဲ့ အမုန်းစကားတွေဖြန့်ချိပြောဆိုကြောင်းကို သက်သေအထောက်အထားတွေတင်ပြခဲ့ပါတယ်။ သက်သေတခုထဲမှာ “စစ်တကောင်း ခေါ်တောကုလားတွေက ဝါးမျိုသွားမဲ့အန္တရာယ်ရှိနေပြီ” လို့ သင်တန်းမှာပြောဆိုခဲ့တဲ့အထောက်အထားကိုပြသထားပါတယ်။ ဒါ့အပြင် “မြေမျိုလို့လူမျိုးမပျောက်ဘူး၊ လူမျိုမှလူမျိုးပျောက်မယ်”လို့လည်း အဲဒီသင်တန်းမှာပဲပြောကြားခဲ့ပြန်ပါတယ်။ ဘင်္ဂါလီမွတ်ဆလင်တွေဟာ သူတို့ဘာသာတရားကိုဖြန့်ဝေနေတယ်၊ ဗုဒ္ဓဘာသာပျောက်ကွယ်တော့မယ်လို့လည်း အဲဒီသင်တန်းမှာ လူမျိုးရေးမုန်းတီးမှုကို လှုံ့ဆော်ခဲ့ကြောင်း အထောက်အထားပြသထားပါတယ်။
ရိုဟင်ဂျာတွေက တိုင်းရင်းသားတွေကို သတ်ဖြတ်နေတဲ့ပုံဆိုပြီး တပ်မတော်သတင်းမှန်ပြန်ကြားရေးကဝါဒဖြန့်ချိလှုံ့ဆော်ထားတဲ့ ဓာတ်ပုံတပုံကိုလည်း ပြသပြီး အမှန်တကယ်တော့ အဲဒီပုံဟာ ရဝမ်ဒါနိုင်ငံသတ်ဖြတ်မှုတုန်းက ဓာတ်ပုံသာဖြစ်ကြောင်းထောက်ပြပြီး တပ်မတော်သတင်းမှန်ပြန်ကြားရေးဟာ ပုံအတုသုံးပြီးမဟုတ်မမှန်ဝါဒဖြန့်ခဲ့တယ်လို့ စွဲချက်တင်ထားပါတယ်။

ဒေါက်တာအေးမောင်ဦးဆောင်တဲ့ ရခိုင်တိုင်းရင်းသားများတိုးတက်ရေးပါတီ RNDP ပါတီဟာလည်း လူမျိုးတုံးသတ်ဖြတ်ရေးကို နှိုးဆော်ရေးသားခဲ့တယ်လို့ သက်သေတင်ခဲ့ပါတယ်။ အဲဒီရေးသားချက်ထဲမှာတော့ ဂျူးတွေအတွက် ရန်သူဖြစ်တဲ့ဟစ်တလာနဲ့ အိုက်ခမန်းဟာ ဂျာမန်တွေအတွက်တော့ သူရဲကောင်းတွေဖြစ်ခဲ့လိမ့်မယ်ဆိုတဲ့ ရေးသားချက်ပါဝင်ပါတယ်။
မတူကွဲပြားခြင်းနဲ့ငြိမ်းချမ်းရေးပါတီဥက္ကဋ္ဌဦးနေမျိုးဝေရဲ့ပြောဆိုချက်ကိုလည်း လူမျိုးတုံးသတ်ဖြတ်မှုသက်သေအဖြစ်တင်သွင်းဖော်ပြခဲ့ပါတယ်။ နေမျိုးဝေဟာ ရိုဟင်ဂျာတွေကို နံပါတ်တစ် ပစ်ပြီးသတ်၊ နံပါတ်နှစ် ပစ်ပြီးသတ်၊ နံပါတ်သုံးပစ်ပြီးမြေမြှုပ်လို့ပြောခဲ့ကြောင်း သက်သေအထောက်အထားတင်ပြခဲ့ပါတယ်။
