Myanmar Citizens Granted Visa-Free Entry to Malaysia for 14 Days Starting October 1

Yangon, September 26 Malaysia, a member of ASEAN, has officially announced through its embassy in Yangon that Myanmar citizens will be allowed to enter Malaysia without a visa for short-term visits of up to 14 days starting October 1.

According to the embassy, this visa exemption applies to holders of Myanmar passports and is intended for short-term travel. However, it does not guarantee automatic entry into Malaysia. Final approval depends on the discretion of Malaysian immigration officers.

Travelers must be prepared to present:

  • A return flight ticket
  • Hotel booking confirmation
  • Proof of sufficient funds (“show money”)
  • A clear reason for visiting Malaysia

A Yangon-based travel agency that arranges tours to Malaysia, Thailand, and Singapore emphasized:

“Although Myanmar citizens don’t need a visa, Malaysian authorities will thoroughly check all documents. Those who genuinely intend to travel should prepare all the necessary items carefully.”

🇲🇾 Malaysia remains a popular destination for Myanmar nationals, both legally and illegally, due to its higher wages and employment opportunities.
