Do Not Believe — A Poem from the Kālāma Sutta

Do not believe just because it’s heard, A voice that echoes, a spoken word.

Do not believe in ancient lore, Passed down through ages, told before.

Do not believe because it’s said, “It happened once”—a tale widespread.

Do not believe your thoughts alone, Impressions fleeting, overthrown.

Do not believe because it feels Aligned with views your heart conceals.

Do not believe in sacred scrolls, In texts revered by countless souls.

Do not believe because you trust A teacher wise, devout and just.Believe not blindly—pause and see, What leads to good, and sets you free.When kindness blooms and harm is gone, Then walk that path, and journey on.

မယုံနဲ့ — ကဗျာတစ်ပုဒ်

မယုံနဲ့… အသံကြားရုံနဲ့ မယုံနဲ့။ အဖိုးအဖွားပြောခဲ့တာနဲ့ မယုံနဲ့။ “အဲသလိုဖြစ်ဖူးတယ်” ဆိုတဲ့အကြောင်းပြချက်နဲ့ မယုံနဲ့။

ကိုယ့်စိတ်ထဲတွေးမိတာနဲ့ မယုံနဲ့။ ကိုယ့်ယူဆချက်နဲ့ကိုက်တယ်ဆိုတာနဲ့ မယုံနဲ့။ စာပေကျမ်းထဲမှာပါတဲ့အကြောင်းနဲ့ မယုံနဲ့။ ယုံကြည်ရတဲ့သူပြောတာဆိုပြီးတော့လည်း မယုံနဲ့။

စဉ်းစားပါ… အကျိုးရှိလား၊ အနာတရရှိမလား။ တရားတော်နဲ့ကိုက်မလား၊ သန့်ရှင်းမှုကိုဖော်မလား။ အဲဒါမှသာ ယုံပါ။
