**”Just to mention it in passing… regarding the Myanmar DJ issue: that young female DJ had previously been charged under Section 505, and I’ve seen Burmese MaBaTha members circulating a comment where she insulted ‘Ma Ah La’. The authorities are likely already aware of this. So, as someone on the side of the revolution, I don’t want our people to get overly involved in this kind of issue.
As for other things she and her partner may have done—I don’t know. If there’s something that truly warrants criticism, I won’t speak on it. But I’d prefer not to see people jumping in aggressively alongside Paauk Sayadaw.
When it comes to discussions about the Buddha or Dhamma, sometimes my friends and I, when we’re drunk or high, talk about philosophy and such. It’s not about wanting to insult religions or ideologies—it’s about genuine interest and curiosity.
It’s surprising that some MaBaTha members are upset, even though they themselves have caused suffering and are now facing consequences. The world isn’t far from catching up.”**

After receiving criticism on social media for remixing her once-successful Buddhist song “Buddha’s Praises” at a club in Yangon, famous DJ Violet has apologized on her Facebook page.
“I myself know that if I insult Buddhism, I will be angry and everyone will be angry. Tell me honestly. If there are any greater sins, please forgive me. I sincerely apologize. I did not do it intentionally. When will the words of jealousy and attack change? I am telling those who will trample on me. I also apologize for the inconvenience. I have not been able to edit and write since yesterday. I have only recently been able to edit after asking a knowledgeable person. I was afraid that saying nothing yesterday would be a mistake, so I kept quiet. I sincerely apologize and humbly apologize,” said DJ Violet.
Recently, some clubs in Yangon have been re-using the Dhamma song “Buddha Sharanam Gisami” as a DJ and performing, as seen on social media.
“If there is anything better than an apology, I would like to apologize… I am also sorry for disturbing you. I apologize to everyone for the mistake I made without realizing it, even though I am a Buddhist. I will think about not making the same mistake again. If she did it intentionally because she has no other recourse but the Buddha, may she not be a human in her future lives, Lord,” she continued.
The song is reportedly being played by DJ Violet, DJ Burmese Smash, and DJ Unique (Htet Htet).
The song “Buddham Sharanam Gisami”, a hymn to the glory of the Buddha, was a song from the Studio Era and has been re-sung by famous singers Soe Paing and Poe Ei San.
