It’s time to speak plainly and truthfully. Too many have stayed quiet for too long, fearing blame or division. But truth must come before unity. Otherwise, the very revolution we fought for becomes another betrayal.
1. Who is the NUG?
When we say “NUG” (National Unity Government), we are not referring to just one group. It includes:
- CRPH, NLD-CWC, and other factions of the NLD leadership.
- MPs who stayed silent while people suffered.
- Civil servants who joined under CDM but quietly drew salaries.
- NGOs and civil society actors who cozied up to the NUG for contracts.
- Political players in NUCC waiting for scraps of opportunity.
- Ethnic Revolutionary Organizations (EROs) who formed convenient alliances to extract resources.
Together, they made a government that served themselves, not the people.
2. The Thieves Behind the Curtain
Behind this network were:
- International donor agencies who looked the other way.
- Seasoned Spring Revolution actors who repeated slogans but shut down truth-tellers.
- Self-appointed brokers who took percentages from every aid and weapon deal.
They didn’t just fail the revolution — they bled it dry.
3. How the People Were Betrayed
Ordinary citizens gave generously — not to politicians, but to the idea of freedom. Yet the NUG monopolized all donations.
- They accepted funds “for the resistance” but built a dam to block the flow — diverting everything through their own filters.
- Real fighters at the frontlines were denied arms and support.
- Even when weapons were procured independently, NUG-linked arms dealers sold them at criminally inflated prices.
It was deliberate. A power grab disguised as coordination.
4. It Was Never About Money
At first, we thought they lacked funds. But slowly the truth emerged:
- The NUG never intended to fight. They wanted to negotiate — to gain recognition, not freedom.
- Everything was built around legitimacy in the eyes of the West, not survival on the ground.
- They stuffed donations into personal pockets, not bullet factories.
The people only realized too late that they had been played.
5. Divide and Discredit
Whenever a popular resistance group emerged, the NUG moved to destroy it:
- Fundraisers who weren’t under NUG control were smeared or sidelined.
- Prominent groups like POEM were attacked not for wrongdoing, but for being independent.
- Even constructive critics were silenced with insults and personal defamation.
Abroad, they formed cliques and created fake “alliances” to skim money through shadow NGOs, giving commissions to cronies. At first, the public believed “revolution funds” were sacred — but when $1 million homes and lavish lifestyles surfaced, hearts broke.
Critics were shut down with vulgarity and threats. Lies covered truths. Outrage became silence.
6. And Now?
The moment of real battle has come — but there are no weapons, no funds, no fighters.
- Youth who once crossed borders with hope have vanished.
- Reinforcements are gone. New recruits are rare.
- With no strategy, some resistance groups have devolved into abusive militias — armed with nothing but sticks and bad orders.
It didn’t have to be this way.
7. A Revolution Squandered
We had a real shot at victory. But the money never reached the battlefield.
- Not even one bullet factory was built.
- Instead, NUG leaders:
- Rented offices abroad.
- Flew endlessly with little result.
- Sent their families to third countries.
- Enrolled their children in elite international schools.
- Moved into $5,500-a-month penthouses — sometimes with young mistresses in tow.
Meanwhile, those who bled for the revolution were left with nothing.
Conclusion
The revolution was not destroyed by the enemy alone.
It was gutted from within — by greed, cowardice, and lies.
We must not let this elite group go unpunished.
We owe it to the martyrs, the prisoners, and every dreamer who gave their all for a better future.
Let history remember what they shouted as they lined their pockets:
“LONG LIVE THE REVOLUTION!”
Yes — may it live long… in exile, in comfort, far from the trenches where it was truly born.
