U Wirathu, MI Khin Nyunt, Taung Thar Terrorist leader U Aung Thaung, Mandalay PM U Ye Myint and President U Thein Sein

I have written a similar post as an anniversary memorial of Meiktila Massacre but as my old Face Book Account was (unfairly) deleted (Note of translator: Because of false reports by Myanmar Military Cyber-troopers with the possible unholy alliance of FB authorities and Myanmar Military Dictators) I hereby re-write again because this is an important historical event.

CHAPTER 1

If I have to tell about Meiktila one sided Massacre…

I need to start from the previous one day before that incident. That was 19^th March 2013…

And again, if I were to tell about the Muti-religious Peace Programme at the Oriental House Banquet Hall in Mandalay on the 19^th March 2013…We need to preface with some preceding events as an introduction.

OUR MANDALAY is unique because there is a lot of Monks (sanga) studying and residing in our city. Mandalayan businessmen could not stay away from monks. (They need to deal with the monks and are essential to even know the special respectful language in communicating with monks.)

In the older time, there was no much rest-house in Mandalay. Those coming from out-station for shopping or selling goods need to stay in the acquainted monasteries.

At that time, because of worries about not knowing the way or location or the appropriate shops or fears of being cheated, the relevant monks from where they reside would used to accompany those visitors and supervised the business of buying or selling.

Shop owners like me also not only always deal proper with the relevant clients but also to the accompanied monks with due respect but also even used to take care of the food and drinks according to the appropriate times of the day (offering of those donations of food and drinks must be done with due respect according to the religious rules and regulations). And not to mention, we always used to deal fairly in trades and practice justice for the clients brought in by the monks.

Later when the mutual trust is established, the monks need not accompany the clients but send them with the acquainted horse-cart men or trishaw men for shopping.

We, shop-owners used to take care of the clients once they claimed that they were sent by so and so monks from the particular monastery. Once they went back to their monasteries, the monks used to check the quality of goods, prices, voucher or receipts to know whether they bought from the shop he had advised. If anything went wrong or suspicious they would even order them to return the goods.

Even at the time when my late father was selling the car spare-parts, famous and powerful Young Monk’s Association President Sayardaw U Kuthala and Influential Nandwin Sayardaw (The monastery at the palace area inside the moat is worshipped by Myanmar military and its Commander-in-chief of North-West Division HQ) used to frequent not only our shop but to our house. They used not only to buy and sell car spare-parts but sometimes rest at our house to have breakfast or lunch like our family members.

Once I opened my shop for business in 1976, I just followed the tradition and was well acquainted with monks from four corners of Mandalay. (Note: actually he started to learn business much earlier. He said he would continue studying up to matriculation and go to university only if our parents give promise to him allowing to open a shop at Zecho Night Market) Even I have a very close relation with the Popa Sayardaw U Paramma Wunna Theiddi.

There is no animosity but unity between the Mandalayan Buddhists and Muslims. This cordial relation was maintained up to 1988.

Even when there were religious problems and disturbances in other parts of Burma, Mandalay was always calm under the control and care of the revered monks.

But after 1988, the notorious, wicket and cunning Bama Military tried to put a wedge between the united Mandalay monks and Muslims by using their Agent Provocateurs according to their well known divide and rule policy.

In 1997, to cover-up and divert the attention from the dissatisfaction and anger of the Buddhist monks and public of the opened tummy of the Maha Myat Muni Payargyi, (digging and robbing of the jewelry was believed to be committed by the military government to get the powerful big ruby) government Agent Provocateurs created the unrelated false rumours about the Ah Lae Baung quarter, some Masjids in Mandalay were attacked and damaged.

But because of the revered elder monks’ timely control and Muslims’ patience, endurance and quick settling by negotiations, the riots cooled down after a while.

I (Maung Maung) myself was arrested by the Military Intelligence unit for the “crime” of trying to stop the riots and to prevent the revenge attacks by the opposing sides. I was interrogated for eight days in the MI detention centre and sentenced to 3 yrs’ jail. I was put incommunicado in a small closed cell No 4 of the Mandalay Oh Boh jail. Later I bought the freedom (bought the freedom) from the newly transferred Middle Command Commander-in-Chief (now Mandalay Division PM U Ye Myint).

(NOTE: Once I (Dr Ko Ko Gyi) heard my brother’s jail sentence, I went to Myanmar Embassy and Military Attaches’ office and asked the mailing address of Military Intelligence Chief General Khin Nyunt. I wrote to him that the racial riots were definitely the work of disgruntled portion of government insiders or may be someone from opposition who which to threatened the “Pwe” (Staged-show traditional dances and play) to get a good place in-front. By arresting my brother who was trying to stop the riots but not arresting the rioters was WRONG and against the law and might be the wrong work of his lower MI agents. I wrote about myself, my achievements in academic field but how I was unfairly discriminated. Although I was angry, I dare not even say a word and never did anything against government. I wrote about my good relations with successive Myanmar Embassy and Military Attaché offices from the top to lowest persons and advised to ask from them about me. But at last I requested to release my brother immediately and even threatened to hit back with revenge in all the means if he (General Khin Nyunt) failed to release my brother. I even sent to MI General Khin Nyunt a “Thank You Card” after Maung Maung was released in a short while. )

In the jail, I had seen a lot of monks, who were unrelated to the riots, arrested.

Most of them were young innocent monks who were arrested enmass while just going out for early morning asking for rice donation. Once entered the main entrance of jail, I had seen a big pile of saffron robes and rice (begging) bowls.

Those arrested monks were kept separately from other prisoners and were scolded, shouted, abused with fowl language and tortured inorder to give a prison lesson.

From those young monks, some were chosen out and kept in other places.

After torturing mentally and physically to instill fear of military amongst the monks and later some of the softie monks who could be molded as their cells or agent provocateurs were chosen.

After that, there were Anti-Muslim young monks appearing in Mandalay and nearby. Most prominent amongst them was U Wirathu.

As U Wirathu had achieved the prestigious “Bi Wuntha” status certificate, he could point out or correct the errors of even the older and famous monks’ preaches. So he was behaving like a Lightweight boxer going up and challenging Heavyweight class boxers.

U Wirathu started to openly preach the Anti-Muslim or Islamiphobic Hate Speeches started from “Buddhist Religion’s 2500 anniversary west 45 Tar Zayat (hall)” by declaring, “Because of lack of good leader (you all) failed in Mandalay 1997 riots. Now I will lead all of you to made Kalars (Muslims) no place to stay and no food to eat in Mandalay.”

(Note: In the well known video-clip of the above preaching, U Wirathu even continued to threaten that he would made Kalars (Muslims) of Mandalay to become so scared of Buddhists and they would not even dare to look-up with their eyes.)

CHAPTER 2

While the Myanmar Military Government was breeding, incubating Islamophobia by using young monks to brainwash the Buddhist citizens of Myanmar, our Muslim brothers were unaware of that heinous plot, but regularly waste our time with daily struggles of life and intra-religious fights amongst each other regarding the sighting of the moon and for other minor differences.

Military Intelligence Chief General Khin Nyunt’s well bred Agent Provocateurs like U Wirathu and other monks used to systematically propagate Islamophobia amongst Buddhist people but Muslims failed to notice (or fail to countre their actions) their activities.

(Naturally as a minority staying in the Buddhist majority country) Most of the Muslims understood of Buddhism and some even knew more than their countre part ordinary Buddhists.

[Note: Sayargyi U Razak and some Muslim Professors were well versed in Pali (Theravada Buddhist scriptures are written in Pali.) and had even taught some monks. Even at the present time some Myanmar Muslim friends are well versed and even able to quote Tripetaka to argue with the Buddhist friends]

But (sadly) the weakness of Muslims of Myanmar is their failed to inform to most of the Buddhist about Islam and its teachings.

Muslims of Myanmar just usually waste time arguing and infighting depending to different sects or subgroup of religion: whether to grow or wear beard, to wear the traditional Myanmar dress Tike Pone or not, to do Korban or not, on the sighting of the new moon etc. While Muslims were wasting time fighting between one group of Muslims against another, they forgot that Myanmar Military Government’s Lap-dogs are plotting systematically against them all the time.

Then, there were the Kyauksae (Anti-Muslim) Riots due to U Wirathu’s instigations. I have just used the word riots but that incidence was actually a one sided bully or atrocity or terrorism committed on the helpless minority Muslims just like in Meiktila where the Police just watched the terrorists’ burning and killing the Muslims were witnessed on online media by the world. In Kyaukse also, the same thing happened, Su-gyi Masjid was destroyed in front of the Police Station just about 100 ft away but police just observed without interfering the terrorists.

Mandalayan Muslims were alarmed, so do was Muslims from villages nearby Mandalay.

But once U Wirathu was arrested and sentenced to jail, all (Muslims) cooled down, no more worries and forgot about the Riots.

According to the unconfirmed reports, MI Khin Nyunt had instructed that atrocities and the whole Military Intelligence Unit was involved. That was to discredit the SPDC Supremo Sr. General Than Shwe, by creating atrocities in his home town. Sr. General Than Shwe was angry with that action and ordered U Wirathu’s arrest. But Muslims just easily ignored to seriously follow-up these and stay carelessly as usual.

In early 2012, U Wirathu was released with amnesty (actually meant for political prisoners). (Note: Later Daw Aung San Suu Kyi led NLD won the landslide victory in the by-election held on 1^st April 2012. As MI Khin Nyunt was also released although he also was a non-political prisoner, we were worried that there would be another bout of Anti-Muslim Riots using Muslims of Myanmars as a scapegoat to win over votes in 2015 election by brainwashing the Buddhists to become Ultra-Nationalists.)

As the director and the villain hellhounds are at large, Muslims were watching the political scenario with great caution and fear.

At the time of release from prison, U Wirathu seemed to be repented and was in his original good and kind heart and may be angry with or had bad feelings on his mother-unit (MI) for jailing him for a long period…

He himself demanded for the release of his 20 former fellow Muslim inmates from Let Pan village. He met with their families and requested for the Amnesty of those remained in prison.

U Wirathu had also shown some more gestures of reconciliation by requesting through the student leader Ko Ye Yint Kyaw to arrange a meeting with the Mandalayan Muslims so that he could start the Peace movements. Ko Ye Yint Kyaw contacted and arranged the meeting with the Muslim reporter Ko Min Min Lat for him.

U Wirathu allowed Ko Min Min Lat an interview and requested to introduce him to the Islamic Organizations.

Because of the information given by Ko Min Min Lat, we were glad to know U Wirathu’s feeling and intentions but understand that we need to handle with care. So we decided that our youths should have a preliminary meeting before the actual meeting with the top religious leaders.

We had a meeting at “Edu Zone” classroom on 32^nd street between 77 and 78^th street. May be somewhere in January 2012. The meeting was held in the evening and the participants were (as far as I could recall): U Wirathu and his student ( one young monk), Ko Aung Zaw Win, late U Soe Min Htwe (a shahidi or martyr who was later murdered in Mandalay Anti-Muslim riots), Sayar U Kyaw Sann, Sayar U Aung Than, Ko Tun Lwin Oo, Ko Zaw Zaw, Ko Min Min Lat and I (Maung Maung).

At that meeting, Ko Aung Zaw Win, Sayar U Aung Than, Sayar U Kyaw Sann, Ko Tun Lwin Oo and Ko Zaw Zaw explained U Wirathu’s misconceptions and misunderstandings. U Wirathu himself also admitted that he had misunderstood Islam but admitted that once he met the Muslims in the jail, he understood his misconceptions. He continued that after that meeting he understood the truth about Islam and then from that time onwards he wished to struggle for the Peace in Myanmar and for the World Peace.

He said that in a short time, he would organize a protest for the release of Let Pan Muslims (who were not granted the amnesty) on the Payargyi (Maha Myat Muni pagoda) square. He intended to donate Kyat 30,000 for each prisoner’s family.

At that meeting U Wirathu had given us a duty to arrange a Multi-Religious Prayer function and I had gladly accepted that task.

At that meeting U Wirathu signed a declaration and distributed. Although I forgot the details, I remembered that it may be something like this, “Wirathu is not a frightful person. I now understood that Muslims were also lovely people. Let’s struggle together for the Peace in Myanmar and the world.”

After that U Wirathu and our group had a photo-session for remembrance. U Wirathu signed on his Peace Prayer Vinyl Poster (his own picture of releasing the birds on the Mandalay hill) and presented to us before the programme ended.

Later on one day, I had attended the U Wirathu’s protest at Payagyi (Maha Myant Muni Pagoda) square for the release of Muslim prisoners (from Let Pan) and donation for their families. U Wirathu held the poster of his picture behind the prison-bars during the protest. On that poster was written,” If (government) does not release them, put me also back into the prison!”

According to the duty given to me at the meeting with U Wirathu, I had applied the permit at the various relevant authorities and booked for Multi-religious prayer event to be held at Zeycho Hotel Convention hall on evening of the Union Day i.e. 12^th February 2012.

I had to try very hard, facing a lot of difficulties to get the “Permit” for Multi-religious prayer event and so on the 9^th February 2012; I reserved the room by submitting the copy of the above event and paid the deposit.

We had invited U Wirathu led monks on behalf of Buddhists, Khalifa U Aye Lwin (Yangon) and group to represent Muslims, Upper Myanmar Methodist Church Chief Father U Zaw Win Aung together with Christian leaders, Hindi Religious Group leaders and other interested persons were invited to the event.

On the evening of 10^th February 2012, Zeycho Hotel manager rang me up to inform that they got the order of not to allow our event, from the Mandalay Mayor U Phone Zaw Han.

I told him that I had never applied the event permit from the Mayor but had applied according to the rules and regulations through local quarter administration, Township administration, police station up to Mandalay Division Administration. I could not cancel the event and if any untoward thing happened on that day because of inability to perform the function, Zaycho Hotel would be held responsible.

When I went to the Zeycho hotel at the evening of the function on 12^th February 2012, hotel manager repeated that due to the order of the Mayor, he could not allow the event. When I asked why was that about turn stop-function order given, he answered that Mandalay Division Prime Minister U Ye Myint (Former General from new Military Intelligence Division) had given the order because U Wirathu was included in the event! After that the hotel manager locked the hotel entrance door using a chain.

As we could not proceed with the function, I waited on the platform in-front of the hotel to inform and explain the cancellation of the event to all the guests and participants. After the monks from the Buddhist University, Christian, Hindi an Islamic Religious leaders went back, U Wirathu led monks (about 10) arrived. After knowing the reason of the cancellation, U Wirathu told me that he would proceed with the agenda by any means.

He preached briefly “the Multi-religious Peace and friendship” sermon on the platform in-front of the Zeygyo market. Performed the prayers together with the spectators present there and later explained the media personals and distributed the “Dhama Duta” books, signed and distributed the Peace Declaration Statement.

Next day, police threatened me with legal action but backed down when I told them that I had all the legal approval documents and would countre sue the Mayor and Zeycho hotel manager.

I am writing to point out the important fact that if Mandalay Division Prime Minister U Ye Myint refuse to allow, U Wirathu could not do anything.

(NOTE: When U Wirathu was labeled as “FACE OF BUDDHIST TERROR” on Time magazine, President U Thein Sein and his Presidential Office were quick to jump in and defended officially that “U Wirathu is the son of Buddha.”)

At the time like that, when U Wirathu was having a kind and tender heart, in March 2012, Taung Thar Terrorist (Swarn Arr Shin) leader U Aung Thaung (USDP former minister and right hand-man of Sr General Than Shwe) went to see U Wirathu secretly at his monastery’s exclusive Aluminium room for about one and a half hours….U Wirathu was brainwashed and his mind and concepts about turned again to Anti-Islam concept.

CHAPTER 3 of the Meiktila series

After the meeting with Taung Thar Terrorist (Swarn Arr Shin) leader U Aung Thaung (USDP former minister and right hand-man of Sr General Than Shwe) in March 2012, U Wirathu started the Anti-Islam activities rigorously and consistently. On his Face Book he started to write regularly exaggerating the crimes allegedly committed by Muslims of Myanmar. Even before the courts could decide anything yet, he used to write the alleged suspects as convicts by prejudging the cases.

Even for the minor crimes, he would blow up the news as if Muslims were hostile and were systematically scheming those crimes. He used to spread Islamophobic hate speeches by making mountains out of molehills so that the minor (accidental) problems or small (civil cases or) crimes would be misunderstood and seen by the Buddhist people as Muslims were deliberately committing majour crimes.

He had supported the atrocities of the Rakhine Terrorists. In front of his Dhama Wiraha monastery building’s wall, in the compound of Masoeyein monastery, he pasted the Islamophobic Hate Speeches articles and pictures of; attacked Thai Buddhist monks, burnt dead bodies from Nigeria after Petrol-Tanker train accident. Those pictures were enlarged and published on the vinyl sheets as if those were happened in Myanmar and crimes committed by Muslims of Myanmar.

He haphazardly organized the protests; supporting the President U Thein Sein or against OIC etc according to his agenda of Anti-Islam activities.

Those protests he was doing was never disturbed or prohibited by the Prime Minister U Ye Myint of Mandalay Division Government.

Mandalayan Muslims were also trying to prevent the Religious Riots by all the means available, using physical and mental teamwork: as by approaching true Buddhist monks with donations, collaborations and explanations etc.

Our Mandalayan Muslim Youths’ struggles and efforts were supported by the Buddhist Monks from four corners of Mandalay, Monks from Ma Ha Na (National Umbrella Organization of Buddhist Monks) and Saffron Revolution Monks.

Sayardaw U Ahriyar from Myawaddy Monastery, U Khaemarsara from Mid Payargyi (Mahamyat Muni) Monastery, U Withuta, Galoneni Sayardaw U Karwiya, Asia Alinyaung Sayardaw, Patheingyi Ooyin Kyaung Sayardaw, Saffron (Revolution) Monk Ashin (U) Issariya (Uzin Jaung Jaung @ https://www.facebook.com/monk.king.5811?fref=ts&ref=br_tf) and other Mandalayan Monks joined the Thahazarta (Unity and Friendship) Association to prevent the riots in Mandalay. On that same day, there was the firebombing of the protesting monks at the Letpadaung Taung Coppermine.

Some of the monks who went back in the evening after our meeting were also seriously injured there.

There was a rift or different of opinion amongst the Mandalayan Monks and so the newly formed Thahazarta (Unity and Friendship) Association action were stalled and need to give priority for the unity of monks only.

The whole Myanmar donated for the firebombed monks but Kyat 20, 000,00.00 donated by Mandalayan Muslims to U Wirathu was curiously disappeared.

[NOTE: Rohingyas residing in Australia contacted me that they got the promise of cooperation by some Australian Members of Parliament to arranged for the bringing of the injured monks to Australia for Medical treatment in Australia hospital. They requested me (Dr Ko Ko Gyi) to sent the official invitation letter on behalf of them but to sign off as the Chairman of that group. As it was for the benefit of the fellow human beings in distress and hoping to have a friendship bridge between Buddhists and Muslims, I accepted their offer with good faith. But I was mercilessly attacked by some extremist Muslims and also nastily attacked by Myanmar Military Cyber-troopers who were widely believed to be led by Hmuu Zaw (President U Thein Sein’s Office Director), U Ye Htut (President U Thein Sein’s spokesperson, now the Information Minister). The attak was started by Qing Minya (Johore, Malaysia) and James MMT (Singapore) and their other affiliated groups attacked me with shameless lies. It led to even sending Special Branch Polices to KL to investigate me but they cannot find any fault on me and at last requested me to just stop my FB account and to start back after one month silence with another nickname. I agreed on ONE CONDITION: TO STOP all their Islamophobic HATE SPEECHES and ATROCITIES on all the Muslims of Myanmar including Rohingya. As they could not even promise to do their part I also refused their request.]

Some Muslims proposed to send some of the injured monks abroad for Medical treatment but Myanmar Military Government refused to allow. They just brought 4 monks to Yangon for treatment. Government only took care of hospital treatment only so the monks requested the Mandalayan Muslims for other expenses e.g. Food, traveling fees (taxi), accommodation fees e.t.c. for other monks accompanying those patient monks. Because of our good relations and requests, Ko San from Myitta Campaign Yangon and Haji U Tin Maung Than, Secretary General of Islamic Council picked up all the bills and sponsored all the expenses for them.

As U Wirathu and group were creating Islamophobia, Muslim individuals and organizations from everywhere around Myanmar are doing whatever they could to countre those Hate Speeches.

U Wirathu was also freely going around the different part of Myanmar to spread Hate Speeches through his preachings, distributing the books, pamphlets and video CDs without any hindrances.

Our Muslims also collected the evidences of all those Islamophobic Hate Speeches and repeatedly reported frequently to the relevant authorities locally and at the State (Union) level but there was no action taken on him and even never stopped or restrict U Wirathu’s activities. This is the serious (CRIMINAL) OMISSION OF DUTIES by the relevant government authorities.

During that period, numerous Anti-Islam activities erupted: Sai Taung, Kamma, Karen State, Thingankyun Yangon, Yemethin problems.

At that time, Mandalayan Muslims arranged a Multi-religious Peace Programme at the Oriental Hotel Hall. Previously arranged Eid lunch for the elder monks was blocked by the Mandalay Division Government.

Because of that hindrance, peace loving Buddhists and Monks insisted to do that Eid function by changing the venue to the Payargyi (Mahamyat Muni) Central Monastery. The Chief Abbot of Masoeyein (new) Monastery, Sayardawgyi U Yarzadamma Biwuntha himself and Abbots and elder monks from four corner of Mandalay attended and U Wirathu also attended that function.

At that time, if there were any motor bike accident, car accident, fight between husband and wife, problems amongst the lovers, clashes between the shop owners, disputes between employer vs employees…if one side is a Muslim, the case would be usually pulled to the U Wirathu’s Masoeyein Court and unrecognized non-appointed Judge Wirathu’s lopsided decisions or verdicts based on race and religion would come out. Relevant authorities knowingly allow him to do as he pleased without any restriction.

During that period, two Union Ministers, Minister U Aung Min and Minister U Soe Thein came to Mandalay for the (town-hall like) meeting with people at the Mya Mandalar hotel. I got a chance to attend that meeting.

At that meeting I asked the Minister U Aung Min to stop the Hate Speeches but Minister U Aung Min blatantly replied that there were NO Hate Speeches given in Myanmar. When

When I rebutted with proof, Minister U Aung Min kept quiet but Minister U Soe Thein replied affirmatively and positively but just told us that if the opposing side was giving Hate Speeches, our side need to rebut with the Love Speeches!

When I refute him by complaining that when we arrange for the Multi-Religious Peace and Friendship functions, Mandalay Division Government used to disallow us. He replied that he would inform PM U Ye Myint about that (problem) and advised us to apply the permits officially and to do legally.

Because of that dialogue with the Ministers, the worried Muslim leaders and the Mandalayians of both religions wish to do a Multi-Religious Prayers for the friendship and understanding of each other.

We started to hear the news that there were problems in Meikhtila at about 11 AM that morning.

As U Wirathu was repeatedly preaching HATE SPEECHES there for months, we were worried a little bit but wishfully hoped that it would not grow into a very big problem and would finished peacefully.

At about 12.00 noon, we heard that the condition there became worse. Surprisingly, many worried Mandalay Muslims from the businessmen, entrepreneurs, elders and youths were gathered together (to discuss about Meikhtila).

At about 1.30 PM after the Zuhr (noon) prayer, at the Kasaemia Islamic School in Amyoke Tan (i.e. former Royal Muslim Cannoneers’ or artillery gunners’ quarters designated by King Mindon), the Islamic leaders from Ulama, Islamic Council, Myanmar Muslim Youths Organization, Myanmar Muslim Nationals Organization, Mulvi Organization, Garana Organization, Salahiyatul Ulama Association and other concerned Muslims gathered.

We learned that Meikhtila condition was bad and some Muslims were even evacuating in haste from the town.

All of us discussed and decided to go personally to see the Mandalay Division Government. We arranged the transport and all the Muslim leaders headed there. As our group used to serve the Muslim Organizations as General Liaison persons, we also followed them.

At 3.30 PM we reached the office of the Mandalay Division Government but the Prime Minister was not in the office.

The security guard told us that there was no one in the office. But when we insisted to see anyone, even if that person was an office security, he told us that Religious Minister U Than Soe Myint was present.

Three or four of us, including me entered the minister’s office and requested permission for Muslim leaders to see the minister regarding Meikhtila problem. The Minister allowed our meeting request and invited all of us into his small office-room. As there was no space for all, some of us had to stand in-front of the room.

Religious leaders pleaded that they were worried with the problem in Meikhtila and requested that the Government should arrest the criminals who broke the law but kindly help controlling the condition (riots).

The Ulama Chief was so worried that he could not control the tears and so he cried while pleading for the necessary help.

Then, the minister made 2-3 phone calls to different places just in-front of us and told us, “ Yes the Meikhtila problem was started by the Gold Shop and now it grew bigger (into riots) but no need to worry too much as it is now under control by the security forces.

Now the Special Police Forces (Riot Police) were heading Meikhtila. Minister of Security Colonel Aung Kyaw Moe was also on the way. (Our) government would definitely control the unruly activities. You all needed to calm down.” This was spoken at 4 PM on that day.

After that the minister smiled (jokingly) and said, “When the problem started, it was said that your side had slapped first.”

Although no one rebutted back but as I had met him at Multi-Religious functions frequently and became friends and as he was the regular reader of my book and writings, I told him, “Dear Minister, whether slap or stab, you need to take action according to the law. Is that right?”

Minister replied, “ Saya U Maung Maung, you seemed to be so excited, don’t worry, we would take action according to the Laws. We would not discriminate anyone based on Race or Religions. Now you all should cool down and relax. Prime Minister would also personally go to Meikhtila.”

All of us (went back and) continue to camp at Kasaemea School’s office to monitor the situation and progress about Meikhtila with our contacts on phones.

Only after Isha night prayers, our group divided and returned (back from the school) but still gathered in small groups to monitor the latest situation.

The bad news kept on entering and at about 1.00 AM, one Constructor Youth in our group got the phone message from a student from the Mingala Zayyone school.

The news was: “Their school was invaded by terrorists since the earlier part of the night. Computers, Rice Cookers and Washing Machines were looted and the school was burnt. Now they all were in the swarm land below the bank of Meikhtila Lake. They were hiding in the Wet Hlan Taw (human height grass-field).”

The person who got that news rerated and spread that to all of us and we all individually contacted to the various authorities we knew. We pleaded (with the authorities) that the terrorists were searching for those students and to help rescuing them.

We called and asked help from Security Minister Colonel Aung Kyaw Moe as well as PM U Ye Myint.

On every-time when one or other of the students, hiding under the long grass in the muddy swamp land, kept on calling for help to one of us after another, we repeatedly relayed the messages and pleaded the authorities and at last the phone of the PM was answered by his personal assistant only.

Minister of Home Affairs, Inspector General of Police, Mandalay Division Chief Inspector of Police and other various authorities were called for help, no one was spared from our requests.

But no office barrier or authority or any administrative official helped the school-children.

The accounts written below in the brackets were given by the survivor students and teachers from the Mingala Zayyone school and the words of U Wirathu who personally told me.

[Once dawn, the condition became worse. The students hidden under the tall grass in the swamp land, led by the teachers, tried to cross the Meikhtila lake bank and to swim across the lake. But the terrorists constantly watched and thwart their attempts.

Those who got the phone message from Meikhtila and Yindaw and tried to risk and save the children were attacked by the terrorists.

All the people were scared that once there were sun-light, the terrorists stationed on the Meikhtila lake bank would be able to see the students below in the swamp.

At that time, one Buddhist lady who was the owner of the Poultry (Chicken) Farm nearby the swamp suddenly pried open the fence and called-in all the students to hide.

Once all the students were inside the Poultry (Chicken) Farm, sun rise and the terrorist leaders climbed up on to the bank of the lake.

By looking at the disturbed grass on the swamp land, they figured out that students were there but left the place. They searched nearby and found out that the children were hiding in the Poultry Farm.

The terrorist leaders then telephoned their followers to go there, shouted the battle-cry slogans and start attacking the Poultry Farm with all the available improvised weapons.

The students inside the Poultry Farm were worried, scared, don’t know what to do, so they shouted Takbir together, picked up the broken-bricks, broken wooden pieces etc. thrown to them and threw back as self defense.

(Note: The Takbīr (تَكْبِير) is the Arabic term for the phrase Allāhu Akbar (الله أكبر). It is usually translated as “God is the greatest,” or “God is great”. It is a common Islamic Arabic expression, used in various contexts by Muslims; in formal prayer, in the call for prayer (adhān), as an informal expression of faith, in times of distress, to express celebration or victory, or to express resolute determination or defiance. Ref: Wikipedia)

Attacking terrorists were stunned by the defiance of children’s resistance and shouting of the Takbīr instead of running away separately into different places with fear because of their vicious attack with great force. So the attackers were scared to enter inside and so burn the Poultry Farm.

At the time of arson attack, two Fire-engines and about 30 fully armed Policemen arrived the place but just stood and watched all the activities of the terrorists.

Authorities and officers on duties were standing on the bank of the Meikhtila lake and watched as if they were viewing the staged-play. Because they were just about 500 ft from the crime scene, they all could see clearly what was going on.

Mandalay Division Prime Minister U Ye Myint and Mandalay Division Government Security Minister Colonel Aung Kyaw Moe were on the road above the lake bank.

U Wirathu, Shwe Nya War Sayardaw, 88 Student leader Min Ko Naing and NLD MP U Win Htein, who arrived Meikhtila since 8 PM 20^th March were also on that lake bank.

The condition of the students was bad because they were attacked from the front and the building at their back was burning. At that time one of the teacher shouted to the fire-brigade which just watched there without doing anything to help extinguish the fire. The students also hault the fighting back.

Someone from outside shouted back to them, “We would extinguish the fire, just stop your shoutings.” Then, one teacher ordered the children to stop the Takbir. The children were also very tired because of lack of sleep the whole night and because of the assaults suffered and also because of the heat of the burning Poultry Farm house behind.

At that time one authority from outside shouted, “We would send all of you to the police station, come out.”

So they prepared to go out. At the outside there were some authorities, police mixed together with terrorists and about 20 monks with saffron robes.

Someone from outside ordered, “The teacher amongst your group come out first.” So the headmaster prepared to go out but another teacher requested the headmaster to stay back to take care of the children and volunteered to go out first. Once that teacher was outside, he was assaulted, slashed numerously and killed immediately by the terrorists.

The heat of burning inside increased and it was difficult to go out. At that time one famous Meikhtila court-cases broker monk named “U Zin Pu” arrived and ordered loudly, “If you all did not wish to die, come out with your hands in prayer position (i.e. prostrating position: palms together, fingers flat out and pointed upward and raised to the forehead). If you come out in prostration, we won’t harm you.” When the students looked up to the headmaster’s face for permission, the headmaster nodded in approval.

When the students put their palms together on their chest as in Buddhist prostration position, that monk (U Zin Pu) shouted, “F**K your mothers. How dare you all insult us, raise the opposing hands above the head and come out!”

The students looked at the headmaster’s face again and when the headmaster nodded again helplessly, the students went out with the palms above the head in Buddhist prostration position.

The first 40 of the persons that came out were ordered to stand in rows and marched through the housing estate to the army trucks. Although police escorted them, U Zin Pu led terrorists penetrated the police escorts to assault with sticks and slash with machetes.

Those who endured the assaults and continue to walk managed to survive but those fell down or tried to run away haphazardly were slashed to death and some were burnt alive.

Surrounding police just shoot up into the air numerous times and U Zin Pu just followed from the side and even joked, “ Stop assaulting them, if they die in your housing area, it would hurt your place’s karma. If they die in your estate you would face the haunting of the Kalar (Muslim) ghosts.”

28 students and 4 teachers from Mingala Zayyone Islamic Religious School “shaheed” or died as martyrs at that spot.

At that time Shwe Nya War Sayardaw came to that place holding the Buddhist Religious flag.

Once arrived he shouted, “You all please stop! This is not the work of Buddhists” and hit the terrorists with the flag to disperse. When the terrorists even threatened to harm Shwe Nya War Sayardaw, the police had to give security by surrounding him.

In the meantime some tried to assault the students from the front, forcing police to shoot and one terrorist was wounded on the foot.

At that time only, terrorists retreated and with the help of Shwe Nya War Sayardaw, the victims were put on the army trucks and sent to the police station.

We wish to highlight one important fact that although the terrorists were claiming that they were protecting their race and religion:Bama and Buddhism, not all Bama Buddhists were terrorists.

There were some civilian Bama Buddhists who risked their lives and property to help out the Muslims like Poultry farm owner Buddhist lady and few saintly real Buddhist monks: one named “U Zin Pane” who had saved thousands of Muslims during the Meikhtila riots and Shwe Nya War Sayardaw who practically risked his life even at the killing field to practically stop the assault.

Chapter 6

The numerous clips of news arrived Mandalay and naturally when they were mixed with rumours, threatened the Mandalayans and all were scared to death. It was because we wrongly believed that as the hometown of our National Hero and Martyr Sayargyi U Razak, there could not be this kind of atrocities in Meikhtila.

Meikhtila Muslims are Burmanized and even their Arabic names were sometimes sound like Myanmar names. We wondered what kind of Hate Speeches had brainwashed the Buddhists to hate and commit that kind of atrocities or Massacre on Muslims there.

Later we heard the news that killing of a monk by Muslims in Meikhtila had worsen the situation.

It was just a lame excuse only as the riot was started since 10 AM that morning long before that monk was killed. There was a pre-planned destruction of buildings by the deliberate exaggeration of fights and even at 5 PM of that evening, attacks on Masjids were started but that monk was killed only at that late evening 6 PM just in the vicinity and in front of a Mosque.

The real story was that murdered monk, U Thawbita was from the small town called Thae Daw on the Mandalay-Meikhtila highway. He entered monkhood just 2 years ago but as an ex-drug addict, he could not get rid of his old habits and became a nuisance to local police by frequent intoxication with liquor.

On that fateful day, he was asked to follow on a Hilux car with a group of 8 Thae Daw villagers in order to destroy the Kalar Pali (meant the Muslim Masjids). Not as Wirathu wrote on the Internet, an innocent person just went to Meikhtila to buy the moral book, “Yinkyae Leinmar”.

U Wirathu even falsely claimed that the deceased monk took the sidecar (trishaw) from bus-station to bookshop but actually the road from bus-station to bookshop was another way and no need to use that road in-front of the mosque. After all Meikhtila was already damaged with riots since 10 AM that day, (and the news definitely spread to the nearby Thae Daw, no need to go to Meikhtila that evening) …and the whole town was in a state of riots…why Wirathu was writing lies (to cover-up the truth and give lame excuse to blame the victim Muslims)?]

[Two Union Ministers, Minister U Aung Min and Minister U Soe Thein came to Mandalay for the (town-hall like) meeting with people at the Mya Mandalar hotel. I (Maung Maung) got a chance to attend that meeting. At that meeting I asked the Minister U Aung Min to stop the Hate Speeches but Minister U Aung Min blatantly replied that there were NO Hate Speeches given in Myanmar. When I rebutted with proof, Minister U Aung Min kept quiet but Minister U Soe Thein replied affirmatively and positively but just told us that if the opposing side was giving Hate Speeches, our side need to rebut with the Love Speeches! When I refute him by complaining that when we arrange for the Multi-Religious Peace and Friendship functions, Mandalay Division Government used to disallow us. He replied that he would inform PM U Ye Myint about that (problem) and advised us to apply the permits officially and to do legally. Because of that dialogue with the Ministers, the worried Muslim leaders and the Mandalayians of both religions wish to do a Multi-Religious Prayers for the friendship and understanding of each other.]

At that time U Wirathu was spreading the false and baseless propaganda accusations that the Masjids of the Muslims of Myanmar were like the military bases with ammunitions stored in the underground bunkers.

Because of that baseless allegation, we decided to invite the Buddhist Monks from four corners of Mandalay and Religious Leaders from other religions for a lunch (because Buddhist monks abstain from eating dinner) and to offer the monks to choose any amount of Masjids for inspection amongst the Masjids in Mandalay.

I was given a duty by the Islamic Organizations to organize and apply a legal permit from the relevant authorities for the above function on 19^th of March 2013 and to also invite U Wirathu.

CHAPTER 4

I went and invited U Wirathu asking him to definitely attend the function and to kindly give a speech. U Wirathu looked at the list of guests to be invited and when noticed the names of Shwe Keinnari Sayardawgyi, the National level central Executive member of Monks Association, Division level Sanga Patron Sayardawgyi, Shwe Kyin Religious Head Sayardawgyi, Shwe War Win Kyaung Sayardaws etc U Wirathu remarked that he dare not talk or preach anything in front of those Great Sayardawgyis and refused to speak at our function.

For the “Function Permit” I went through normal process from local office in housing quarters to the Division level General Administrative Department but my application was rejected so I went to ask the procedure of application to the Mandalay Division Minerals and Religious Minister U Than Soe Myint. He advised me to apply directly to PM U Ye Myint. I asked and formally applied as Minister U Than Soe Myint advised but PM U Ye Myint asked me to give evidence about the recently spreading Hate Speeches to attached together with the application. So I had to attach the Hate Speeches, papers, pamphlets, books and VCDs of U Wirathu with my application letter to PM U Ye Myint..

(Note: This is actually one of the proof that Muslims had complaint officially about U Wirathu’s hate speeches.)

On those days while I was trying to get the permit for the function, U Wirathu was busy going around the urban and numerous villages around Meiktila and Yemethin to spread Islamophobic Hate Speeches and lies about Islam by preaching, distributing papers, books, requesting not to buy at Muslim shops and distributing 969 stickers etc..

After only seeing the Religious Minister U Than Soe Myint repeatedly, I difficultly got the permit for the function.

We invited the Elderly and influential revered Abbots from four corners of Mandalay, Buddhist Associations, Christian Religious leaders, Hindi Religious leaders, Baha’i Religious leaders, Muslim Religious leaders, Religious organizations from Yangon, Union Minister U Aung Min from Myanmar Peace Centre, MRA Malaysia and other interested persons. The function was held at the Ball Room of the Oriental House on 19^th of March 2013.

At the function, we arranged specially and exclusively to donate Swun (lunch) for the monks at upstairs and Brayani for other guests downstairs. Rental for the Ball Room and food for the monks was donated by the owner of the Oriental House hotel.

The senior high ranking reverend abbots we had invited like; Mandalay Division Sanga Association CEC Chairman sayardawgyi and Old Masoeyein Monastery Chief Chairman Monk were pressured during the dawn breakfast not to attend the function organized by “Kalars” (meant Muslims) by the young monks from the Old Masoeyein Monastery. So (our) Peace initiative monks who went to usher them had to come back empty handed.

When we took the places in the ball room, we found booklets in the guests’ hands. When enquired, we were informed that those booklets were distributed by the young monks who accompanied U Wirathu. That book was an Anti-Islam propaganda book written by U Wirathu about a young (Buddhist) girl. So I ordered our voluntary youths to confiscate back those books.

Once it was sure that the Mandalay Division Sanga Association CEC Chairman sayardawgyi and Old Masoeyein Monastery Padarna Naryaka (Chief Chairman) Monk were not attending the function, just before the function started, U Wirathu requested to be allowed to preach.

At first, U Zin Jaung Jaung, Yangon Meggin sayardaw Saffron revolution monk, from Yenanchaung told me to arrange for U Wirathu, who was requesting for the permission to speak. U Wirathu’s follower, U Eindrasekka from old Masoeyein monastery who pressured the elder Sayardaws not to attend the function of Kalars (Muslims) accompanied, U Zin Jaung Jaung.

That monk told us to alter the agenda and put U Wirathu’s name in the list of speakers.

I retorted him that we would not be able to change the agenda as U Wirathu had rejected our earlier request to speak and now we could not trust his change of mind at last minute to be a sincere request.

Later one Peace-monk called me and reminded, “U Maung Maung, better allow U Wirathu to speak as he would create problem.” I replied that I need to discuss with the Organizing Committee. And no one in the Organizing Committee agreed to let him speak. So I replied back that we could not allow him.

Then, U Zin Jaung Jaung summoned me and told again, ”U Maung, (he will) create problem, allow him (to speak).” At that time, a monk nearby threatened us, “If U Wirathu is not allowed to speak, he and his follower monks (about 7 of them) would go back in protest to ruin your function.”

I replied that if that was the case I would directly talk (to him) and went up the exclusive stage specially for the monks and went to U Wirathu who was seated at the third row, according to the ranks.

Once reached near him, I told him (in a respectful special language reserved to address the monks), “U Zin, I had invited you at first to speak at this function and you, yourself had refused my request. I could not allow your request now (at last minute). I hope U Zin understood that I had signed a bond and I would be held responsible if any untoward things happened. I would be made to explain (to the authorities) and suffer even if (you) try to destroy this function. Do as you (U Zin) like.”

U Wirathu laughed and replied, “ I won’t go back, you do what you need to do calmly.”

U Wirathu stayed up to the end of that function.

(Not written here but my brother Maung Maung told me once that he had to go up the place of providing lunch for the monks again as U Wirathu refused to eat. He ate only when Maung Maung personally offered by serving the Brayani-Swun into his plate. The pictures of Maung Maung sitting at the side and serving U Wirathu widely spread on Face Book)

While the function was in progress with various religious leaders preaching about “Peace, Unity and Friendship”, at the car-park outside the hall, a 969 (Anti-Islam) monk from Sin Tae monastery from the western part of Mandalay, popularly known as “Kunfu-monk” leading three monks and about 15 civilians were abusing and insulting the people coming to the hall with vulgar language.

When I went out and look, the three monks entered the hall and civilians moved away to the corner of 30^th street. Those three monks who entered the hall were looking at the youths sitting at the back with hostile looks and were taking pictures. So I hold the arm of their leader, Kunfu Kodaw and told that if they were monks, there was a special place for the monks and pulled him upstairs. So all of them were seated upstairs.

Those uninvited guest monks took the donated saffron robes and left after eating lunch.

That Kunfu Kodaw and a lady named Ma Myint Myint Kyi were leading the 969 group which was going around bazaars and housing estates in Mandalay distributing the 969 stickers and used to create trouble on the Muslim shops and houses.

Union Minister U Aung Min and U Soe Thein led PMC and a Foreign NGO tried to exploit us with false promises to bring in the Skynet TV, MRTV, Myawaddy TV and also promised to distribute books and pamphlets to get a chance to read their messages at our function but they only took the pictures and videos of themselves. Although they indicated at first to chip in for the function they all failed to contribute even a cent but we don’t know how much expenses they claim from their parent association by using the pictures and videos they shoot at our function.

We arranged the cars for monks to inspect the Mandalay Masjids after the function. Instead of offering the names of the Masjids from our side we arranged to send the monks to any Masjid they like to inspect. But U Wirathu and his followers left immediately after the function by just saying that he had to go back as he had other important matters to attend

The remaining monks just commented that as the monk who had accused that the Masjids were built like army camps had left and it was not proper or appropriate for them to go and inspect them but better to go back. One elder monk just remarked that not because he suspected the Masjids were Military bases but as he had never seen before he wished to just have an experience into a Masjid but as others had left he demanded to send him back to his monastery.

At that evening, Ko Shine, the liaison officer of the MRA Malaysia NGO informed us that their MRA wished to offer a fully sponsored trip for U Wirathu led 10 monks for excursion around Malaysia to show how the different religious groups living peacefully together. I sent Ko Shine led group to U Wirathu’s monastery to meet and discuss with U Wirathu. We learnt only on that day that although U Wirathu wished to travel abroad, Myanmar Government had confiscated his Passport.

In that evening U Eindrasekka from old Masoeyein Monastery lied on his Face book that he and U Wirathu’s request to talk at the function was denied by Kalars. That U Eindrasekka was the one who had given problem and pressure on the Sayardawgyis from old Masoeyein Monastery.

That day (I have written lengthily) was 19^th March 2013.

Next day on the 20^th March 2013…Meiktila was terrorized unilaterally.

The morning after the Meiktila Massacre, I went to see the Galoneni Sayardaw because one Sa Ah Pha (Military Intelligence) member rang me up informing that the Galoneni Sayardaw wished to see me.

U Than Nyunt from the Garana organization and I went there. We noticed that there were a lot of monks already in the Galoneni Sayardaw U Karwiya’s monastery. As the monks’ mood seemed to be tense, U Than Nyunt just slipped out to avoid their anger. As I used to have good relations with the monks, I hope I would not get into any trouble. Kunfu Kodaw led 969 monks were also in the U Karwiya’s monastery. Once I entered and set in the monastery, the monks, one after another, kept on blaming the Muslims for about 30 minutes, “You all, Kalars were…this..that..blah blah”. I had to bear the scolding without any rebuttal because the condition would explode if I argue back.

Once they finished their angry outburst or tirade only I requested them,” It had already already happened, please kindly help (us) to control the condition from spreading to other towns and villages.” I dare to ask because except for the 969 group, other monks were working together with us since 8888 revolution.

Then only, they said they wanted a car without a driver to go to Meiktila for the burial of sayardaw U Thawbita (who was killed the previous day). I discussed with our group and arranged a car for them. The Sa Ah Pha (Military Intelligence) member drove the car but still requested me for the petrol fees. The car owner, Ko Kyaw Htwe gave thirty thousand Kyat for the petrol.

My colleagues asked me to give 500,000 Kyat to Galoneni sayardaw U Karwiya and U Withuta from Yetaw Tike as if for the burial fees although we already knew that (Mandalay) Division Government would pay for all the expenses for the burial because in Myanmar, there is a saying, “Win over (the heart and minds) by paying (giving).”

We did not know what to do on our side (in Mandalay). We don’t know definitely about the condition of the people in the (Meiktila) town and the condition of students from Mingala Zeyyone who were at the police station was not very safe.

They were just kept in the police station without proper medical care. And the security around the perimeter fence was also not secure as there was only two lines of barbed wire just haphazardly attached. And there were only 2-3 police armed with batons made of solid bamboos only. The outsiders rode their motorbikes nearby and threw sticks and stones to them or just shouted abusive vulgar words.

Those students were not local but outstation students. In the police station, there was no food, clothing nor any facility. So we approached the relevant authorities in Mandalay informing that it was important to save them out.

We tried to communicate with the (Mandalay Division) Government but even failed to get an appointment to see them. We approached police but they replied that they could not do without the approval of the government. Military also said they could not interfere in the civilian affairs.

Because it involved the children, we approached UNICEF. They said that they could ask help to the military. UNICEF told us that it might be expensive, about 100,000,00 Kyats (10 million) and whether we would be able to pay that amount. Our Mandalay group told them that it was no problem to spend 100,000,00 Kyats or if even more and indicated that they could pay any amount if the children could be released. I could not afford that much money but my friends who were rich backed me up and told me just to proceed with my job to rescue the children and they would pay any amount.

In the evening, UNICEF replied that they could not get help. Some of my friends were trying to contact PM Ye Myint to get permission to give proper burial for the dead children and to release the rest (who were in the police station).

At night, we went to see Sayardaw U Kharmarsara from Payargyi (Maha Myatmuni) central monastery because we got the message that he had called us. That sayardaw was the chief monk of Galoneni and U Withuta and had always together with us actively in the politics and had always allowed us to use his monastery anytime we need for the political activities.

Khalifa U Thein Win Aung’s group and our comrade, former political prisoner Ko Zarni were with us.

Once arrived there, Sayardaw told us that he wished to send the donated rice, rusk (or Myanmar toast biscuits), instant noodles and mineral water to Meiktila. He told us to arrange a car for five monks.

Then, Khalifa U Thein Win Aung and I requested Sayardaw to rescue the trapped children while they were going to Meiktila. We told him that as the children were not Meiktila locals, their parents were worried and we wish to give back the children into their parents’ care. Sayardaw agreed and promised to try but told us that he needed about 50 monks as the present force (of 5 monks would be not enough (for the rescue mission).

Our Mandalayan group arranged not only enough cars for the 50 monks but for the dawn breakfast, lunch and also added more rusk (or Myanmar toast biscuits called Mont-kyut in Myanmar), instant noodles and mineral water. So a big convoy of 15 cars left at 5 AM.

I (Maung Maung) did not follow them to Meiktila as I need to arrange and prepare for that mission. (But actually I was scared.) Khalifa U Thein Win Aung followed in spite of repeated warning not to go because it was dangerous. Ko Nyi Nyi Kyaw led “Old Student Comrades” also followed them.

As we had no enough cars, Buddhist Ko Zarni and other Buddhist friends from Zeycho market help with some more cars.

We had just requested them to rescue the school children but never had a real hope or confidence (on their rescue mission) in my mind.

On the next morning at about 9.30 AM, Sayardaw U Withuta called from Meiktila, “Dagargyi (Myanmar custom of the monks addressing to the civilians as their donors) U Maung Maung, wait at the Tatar Oo toll-gate. We manage (to rescue and) come out with the children!”

Oh, what a joy! We relayed that news to others. Then U Than Nyunt, U Aye Ko and I went to wait at the Tatar Oo toll-gate.

People from Mandalay were so happy (to know the news) and kept on calling on their phones to send the (rescued) students to their Masjids.

After discussion we decided that if we brought back the students to Mandalay and let the people see and hear what they said, it may create problems if the people could not control themselves. So we arranged the students to rest, bath and feed in a Masjid at Tabetswe village about 10 miles from Mandalay.

Just after 1.00 PM, students packed on 3 Dyna Pickup cars arrived with police escort; one police car from front and back, led in-front by the motor-vehicle-police on motorbike, arrived Tatar Oo gate.

Kyauksae Police waiting at the Toll-gate accepted the 64 students, 5 teachers and 6 family members and handover to me and asked, “What do you arrange for them, U Maung?” We then proceed according to our plan; took them to Tabetswe village, allow them to rest, bath and fed them. The police and relevant authorities followed us to protect and to collect their detailed personal data.

Muslim religious leaders from Mandalay and parents of the students arrived Tabetswe village. Some of them fainted and some who had cramps (Carpopedal spasm due to hysterical hyperventilation) after crying were treated by Dr. Myint Oo, who had a GP clinic at Paleik town.

We immediately handover the students to the parents. We asked the parents to sign on the solemn declaration letter that the children were their own children.

Those students whose parents could not come in time, he held them over to the nearest parents because the injured students were so terrified that they not only refused to be treated but they were even reluctant to allow inspecting their wounds in front of the police.

Some students with wounds on the back refused to take off their shirts because they were scared people would know about them. One child even had 4 slashed wound.

Khalifa Thein Win Aung had also rescued some students and teachers from another (religious) school.

Dear General,

As the head of Myanmar Military, I hope and pray that you are not a coward or a Gay (sorry Gay friends I don’t wish to discriminate you but just to translate a Myanmar word A Chauk which is an insult but just try questioning the courage of a person.) but sincere enough and have a real courage to declare the truth.

If you really have enough courage, stop all the underhand tactics of using race and religion to create atrocities on Muslims of Myanmar including Rohingyas to fish votes away from NLD.

If your Bama Buddhist military does not not wish to practice true democracy and allow the free and fair elections and accept the election results or to transfer power to Daw Aung San Suu Kyi led NLD and just wish to continue lording over the Ethnic Minorities and Religious Minorities, be man enough to openly say so.

Just announce openly to the world by declaring a Coup d’état and engage the reverse gear on the sham democratization you all are practicing to cheat not only Myanmar people but the whole world.

Sr. General Than Shwe is the supreme leader who is responsible for Anti-Rohingya/Anti-Muslim Campaigns and all the troubles in Myanmar

I have noticed that if only someone asks me a question about a difficult or intricate problem, while trying to solve that question, I understand or realized the whole scenario.

May be because of that, my beloved Professor (I love, respect and look her up as my mentor but she seems to hate me just because I am a Muslim) Dr. Daw Myint Myint Khin had rightly told us once: the best way of learning is teaching others.

Last week the Korean journalist asked me who would be behind all the Anti-Rohingya and Anti-Muslim campaigns and why or how they are so powerful. She clarify that she want to know the power structure and who is who in the top echelon.

At first she was brain washed by Bamas in the mainland that the root cause of Anti-Rohingya activity is the chauvinism, strong Patriotism and Nationalism of Rakhines.

After I explained the mind of the USDP Government after losing the 2012 By-election. USDP understand that they will lost more than 90% of the seat they contest in coming General Election. So instead of power sharing to avoid that loss they have no choice but to choose their long tested Racial Riots to attract the votes from NLD.

To cut short to the point: I told that the SUPREME LEADER is still Sr. General Than Shwe.

After taking lesson of his own Palace Coup d’état on General Saw Maung and General Ne Win, he planned thoroughly so that the top government leader, President and Chief of Staff will toe the line and could not easily arrest him or disobey his orders.

He removed his immediate successor No 2, General Maung Aye. As he had already removed the most dangerous man General Khin Nyunt it is quite easy. We cannot know whether he was behind the General Tin Oo’s helicopter crash.
Those who dare to oppose his order like General Myint Aung and Genaral Loon Maung are also conveniently cleared out of the way.

So he put the second echelon leaders only at the top two position, viz: U Thein Sein as President and Sr. General Min Aung Hlaing as the Military Chief of Staff. So they are not powerful enough to sabotage his order to stage a coup and arrest him. So these two are just the castrated eunuch puppets who have to play as he pulls the strings from behind.

U Aung Thaung is Sr. General Than Shwe’s most trusted, richest and most powerful person. He even was ordered to form his own powerful, invisible, civilian ‘pocket-army’ called Swarn Arr Shins or something like “Power-rangers”. They are used to counter protest, arrest and sabotage the anti-government protests. Most notorious incident was in Depayin Massacre against Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and NLD entourage, where the killed about a hundred NLD supporters, assaulted and arrested dozens of opposition leaders including Daw Suu.

In the recent Anti-Rohingya massacre and especially in Meikhtila Massacre they were believed to massacre few hundred Muslims and committed the arson attacks on Muslim houses, shops and Masjids.

Another powerful person above the government is U Aung Min, in name sake just a minister who is the in charge person doing all the negotiations on behalf of the government and Myanmar military i.e. U Thein sein and Sr General Min Aung Hlaing.

So U Aung Thaung and U Aung Min are the first echelon leaders above the second echelon leaders U Thein sein and Sr General Min Aung Hlaing.

And to countre check them, there are other sleepers in the government, military and parliament. Parliament President Thura Shwe Man, USDP Chairman U Htay Oo, Deputy Chief of staff, Deputy Presidents are some of them.

Thura Shwe Man and U Htay Oo are given the almost the same status or power as U Thein Sein and Sr General Min Aung Hlaing to countre check them from any sabotage against Sr General Than Shwe.

U Ye Htut, Hmuu Zaw, U Thein Sein and Sr General Min Aung Hlaing are guilty of COMMAND RESPONSIBILITY

What you want to say U Ye Tut and Mr Hmuu Zaw? Two of you, U Thein Sein Mr Min Aung Hlaing would be held responsible at UN, ICC….

He presented with the big screen presentations of the photos of U Wairathu holding his han and hugging his son, infront of the peace vinyl stating that U Warithu is not a dreadful person and Mandalay Muslim youths are also lovable youths. Even ICC investigators were surprised and remarked that it was the first time U Warathu had Muslim friends. Wi Wi told Mg Mg to leave the country as Mg Mg was protected by Wi Wi and was disturbing the Myanmar Military’s repeated attempts to create Anti-Muslim Riots. And Wi Wi revealed to Mg Mg that if he continue with the dirty job of spreading Hatred against Muslims, Military Gov granteed that he would be given millions of ‘donation’, but if he stop, he would be arrested back with new charges and would get the bonus of about 19 yrs of balance of Jail term when he was released with amnesty.

And Wirathu told Mg Mg that he was worried that, oneday he would be used as the scape goat or eve
assassinated by the Generals. Mg Mg advised him to get asylum with the help of International Human Rights Activists. Mg Mg contacted me and I arranged with Ro Nay San Lwin to usher him to U.S. Embassy and Consulates in India if he could get there. We advised him to apply for Bodha Gaya Pilgrammage or to visit Sri Lanka and get transit in India.

But the news leaked, U Wirathu’s passport was confiscitated, he was kept under a very tight survelliance, at least 20 Ma Ba Tha youths, half were Rakhines, slept in his glassed-alluminium room.
